Six new Idols and KATSEYE joined to the Recording Academy!

  • What's your thoughts on this?

Mine is obvious. Other than Zico and Woozi, no one else should be on this list IF they don't have at least 100 credits! It makes the whole list ridiculous, also ignores the hard work of other artists (not just Idols) who work hard, but they're not under a big label. Yes, the labels have to submit their artists, but if they don't have the same numbers, they simply don't have a chance. So, this list isn't about talent, it's basically a popularity list.

Here are the criteria for the membership!

Basically: You need to be popular enough, need 2 people (who also a member) to recommend you to the Academy, need to do PR in the West and have some collabs as well, and some other things down below.

I'm fed up with KOMCA for many years, because their system is unfair, but the Recording Academy is another level, honestly.

I LOVE seeing singers (especially Idols) involved in the music making more and more, but these list doesn't make anyone feel like: "Oh, maybe I should write music more often." No, this makes them think: "Why should I do it, if the Academy doesn't take me seriously if I'm not popular enough?" This isn't a good message for the future producers.

  • HYBE is the only Kpop company to put out a press release bragging about its artists being nominated to join the Recording Academy. And given the sheer number of Grammys that members have to vote on (there were 94 categories in 2025), some of the nominees may not join.

  • No complaints seeing Yunjin there

I have, actually, because she doesn't deserve, and not only her.

Not because I don't like her, or I think she's a bad producer/writer, I actually like some of her songs, but she only has 20 credits or so. Without HYBE she wouldn't be even considered for a list like this, the same goes for the others.

The fact that rookies can be part of the Academy is basically a spit in the faces of senior producers who never gonna have a chance, because they're not under a big label with connections.

More than 90% of this list isn't even in the TOP50 most credited Idols. Hard work should be paid off, not popularity.

  • Knowing HYBE America, it wont be a surprised that they applied their artists for membership.

Also BangPD and BTS have been members of the Recording Academy since 2019 so thats already 2 strong recommendations based on the criteria.

    Exactly!

BTS members actually deserved it because some of them are actually in the TOP20 most credit Idols list with around 100 or even more songs, but now, this is just a parody.

The most credit girl group in history is MAMAMOO, with Moonbyul alone having 120+ credits as the most credited female Idol ever.

Soyeon is probably the 2nd with more than 90.

To be fair, neither CUBE nor RBW is close to Bang Bang PD. Not to mention, those companies don't care about their Idols anyway. :pepe-life-support:

At least Soyeon got her official membership from KOMCA, that's something.

Well it's obvious Hybe played a big part with the latest invites. She's still one of the most credited 4th gen idol. I am unsure whythey gave Katseye an invite. I wonder if Minnie and Yuqi can get invites because I think they have almost the same amount of credits.

Like I said in my 1st post, no one who doesn't have at least 100 credits or close to that, should be on a list like this. Not even Idols. And that includes my faves as well.

Soyeon has 92 credits, Yuqi has 26, but I can't find her in KOMCA's page, like at all, and Minnie has 23.

I want to say big company privilege, but it's clear it's mainly Hybe doing this. I don't care too much for it and I am sure Yunjin will continue to work hard. I do feel it's a bit premature when compared to others. Most likely could've waited a couple more years as she builds her credits up. I do think she's on the right path though.

Yeah, it's a BIG4 privilege, but it's not just Kpop, the whole Entertainment Industry all-around the world is about connections, money and popularity.

The other side of the coin is that other BIG4 Kpop agencies probably didn't submit their Idols, or at least we never heard anything about it.

Yes, that's my point about Yunjin, she's talented, but it's too early.

If she leaves HYBE, she could be on the right path. Under HYBE she won't have a lot of creative freedom. Also, if I remember correctly, most of the songs she produced she was just a co-producer or writer with 5-10 other writers and producers. HYBE isn't really a self-produced agency like CUBE.

  • She's played a big part in some of the songs and is usually near the top billing for producing and songwriting.

I do think it's a bit odd how they allow her to release her own music whenever she wants. I would think a big company like Hybe would want to make money from her singles. I do enjoy her solo work a lot, and it's interesting they allow her to release songs whenever she wants.

Her solo work is better, that's for sure.
