I am really disappointed in the girls. Both Julie and Belle are American... so it is especially disappointing to see them partake in such activities. I wish Haneul and Natty had put in more effort to understand why this isn't okay before doing such things. They have American fans and American members. Especially African American fans that are now (understandably) put off by this.

I'm seriously considering unstanning especially because of Belle's comment. It makes me really uncomfortable.

It was a livestream event for Julie's birthday party and the apparent theme was... whatever this is. That's essentially it.

I wasn't aware of this until today but apparently about a year ago Julie had a controversy because she had said the n-word (I don't know the context but quite frankly it doesn't matter that much to me since she is American and fluent in English)... like GIRL. Please get a grip.

All I have to ask is what secret curse seal activated and targeted black K-Pop fans this week?

so basically typical Korean "concept" thing, same way like they would have guys wearing jamaican dreads hat/wig etc.
for the record I'm not saying this is right or even normal thing to do, sometimes I don't get why companies don't have proper lessons about other races, nations, cultures etc...

I hope people will at least don't jump on Haneul for hair, that was probably hairstylists doing/work

Was expecting to find some big buckets of fried chicken on the table

-

I mean.
I've seen worse. From my absolute favorite idols ever. Was even in the building when it happened. I can judge but I won't condemn them and demand their disbandment.
An acknowledgement of the mistake and an apology to accompany it will suffice. But I'll never blame people for no longer being able to stan them after this.
-
Personally i don't see the problems, they aren't saying the N-word left and right, they aren't using a stereotype accent to speak like some idols did in the past, they aren't doing a blackface
they are wearing hip hop streetwear outfit like most of people are wearing now and became pretty much generalize all around the world
the only thing i find problematic about this whole situation is julie comment about not leaving the fandom after this cuz it means that they knew it could be consider problematic and trigger some people but still decided to go for this
if she didn't make this comment i would have find no problem to this situation

Many fans believe that this is a mockery of African American culture. It doesn't matter if it wasn't on purpose, or if slurs weren't involved. This is a specific style and culture that was turned into a party theme for fun - not as an actual homage or participation in it.
It's one thing to wear streetwear inspired from African American culture - anybody can do that if done so appropriately. It's another thing to treat it like a costume or party gimmick.

The food was Thai as one of the members said it

What is this? What is happening to kpop? Are we back in early 2010~
This is what I was about to say.
What shocked me the most was seeing this scandalous type of controvery in 2025 and not 15-10 years ago. When I saw It on X earlier today, I thought It was an old video about a random group until I read It was Kiss of Life.

-
Mmmmm I don't know how I feel about this one
-
What. They made fun of Latinos too? No way Jose

Ok, i just find out this girl apologize last year for saying the n-word. So, or the company and the girls are incredible stupid or are fucking racists. I can't think of any other reason for this mess.
That video of her saying the n-word had to be dug up and go viral, for her and the company to then respond to. This is a birthday live, and it's not like Julie's birthday is a secret, they put this right in their fans faces. They are at least the former, where ever you land on the latter.

-
There were similar situations before with other idols, with backlash
I think it's better that they apologize

I was pretty shocked actually bc this is so old kpop

I just saw they knew It was problematic and asked the fans to not unstan them after the livestream.
Like... Why?
-
Seems like they had fun, they are nice girls

-
-
-
Don't. There has been enough of this this week.
Let us rest
Anyway, I could easily see the comment the girls made about not unstanning them being made in a context of "hahaha were just a bunch of dumb crackheads" not "we know we were racist but don't cancel us for it ok kekeke" so I won't bury them over that
Optics aren't great though

I ...

-
Perhaps but after seeing more of the thing being posted on twitter in comparison of what OP shared
i would interpret it like this
the girls literally showed a picture of three black men as a reference to the concept of the live
And Haneul comment confirm the feeling i had after reading Belle comment about this live
it seems more like they were scare of how it would be interpreted more than scare of being crackhead
-
"Little Taco Belle be flirting with my man and that's not a bestie"....
it's actually the thing that shock me the most
and i think it's the reason why i see a lot of latin people being angry about this live too
cuz they are saying that this comment was very racist considering that Belle was acting like a "chola" (don't know the meaning of this word)
