“Opened the generation” didn’t exist until Aespa fans forced it

  • It’s been a while since SM had a girl group of Aespa’s level so once Aespa got really popular with Next Level they forced a narrative that a new generation begins only when a top tier group emerges. The issue is that it has become subjective and everyone wants their group to “open the generation”, from BM to ZB1 to H2H. Effectively making the original concept of generations, which is based on years, to one about which fits a particular fandom’s narrative

  • Another lie 😑😑

Nobody and no My ever said 4th gen started when aespa debuted stop inventing things and lie

MY have always recognize that 4th gen started when groups like TXT and itzy debuted

The only thing My said is that 4th really took off when Next level happen

Which isn't wrong cuz it was the first really big hit of 4th gen

And after NL, savage become the first 4th gen song to get a PAK

And after this ive, and nj debuted

Gidle start to gain recognition and had their first pak when they have been struggling with ups and down for years

Which show that the interest of the public finally switched from 3rd gen groups to 4th gen groups

  • Maybe in Korea?

Cuz I haven’t seen I fans of Aespa forcing that Gidle Izone or Itzy were 3rd gen groups

  • lies, the first big hit was Dalla Dalla then Wannabe. And others groups debuting wasn't bc Aespa had a hit in 2021, bfr..

Lmaooo Wannabe was never the big hit that you all try to make it sound it is in korea

it doesn't even have a platinum certification, the song peak at #5 on melon daily chart and peaked at #6 on gaon digital chart, it was never the the hit in korea that you all try to make it sound like.

it was only successfull internationally and that's it

the only hit Itzy have is Dalla dalla and it was because it was their debut song and they were lucky after this they still overshadow by 3rd gen GG like red velvet and blackpink

Koreans don't even count Dalla dalla as one of the biggest song of the 4th gen

    https://www.pa*nchoa.com/2023/09/theqoo-what-was-biggest-hit-from-4th.html

and they don't even consider Dalla dalla as the song "who open" the 4th gen

    https://www.pa*nchoa.com/2022/09/enter-talk-who-opened-4th-generation.html

Most of Koreans consider 4th gen really started when Next Level happen cuz it's the first national hit from a 4th gen Group and the first time koreans were invested in the Group and not just the song

You must be dumb if you read my comment and think that i credited aespa for the debut of Ive and NJ :|:|

All i said is that before Aespa Koreans were not invested in 4th gen group that's why Itzy had one hit and then directly after started to decrease in popularity

with Icy peaking at #10 on gaon digital chart

    Wannabe at #6

    and Not shy at #10

Itzy was just a group that was popular thanks to one song and not the groups

Aespa and Next level marked a switch in 4th gen cuz it was the first time that koreans were invested in a 4th gen group

the reason why even Savage peaked at #2 on Gaon digital chart and have a platinum certification (when only itzy only have 1 with Dalla dalla)

Next level was the first song that was use in political election etc.... proving that it's impact was way much bigger than Dalla dalla

and once there was this switch in Kpop

we slowly saw 3rd gen gg like RV getting less attention in chart at the detriment of 4th gen GG like Aespa, ive, nj, gidle

before Savage no 4th gen GG was able to get a PAK cuz the GP was not involve with them

and once it happen and the GP start to focus on 4th gen GG, tons of 4th gen start to get PAK even Gidle who debuted before aespa and struggle in the past with ups and down

i'm not gonna deny that Itzy started 4th gen

But 4th gen didn't took off when Itzy debuted, and let's not lie we all had tons of talk about why 4th gen gg were having a hard time to have more than 1 successfull songs, why they struggle to get attention, why they don't have a PAK or national hit yet when 2nd gen and 3rd gen gg were able to achieve it in their first year

Koreans say it and the stat say it

now if you don't like the truth it's your problem, and it's a problem i don't care about it, so fix it yourself

  • Well there maybe some several instances like this, but the general discourse was and is that Itzy opened and paved the way for 4th gen girl groups as many Midzys till this day force this narrative

various narratives exist and not all Mys believe Aespa started the 4th generation. But it was mainly people in Aespa ‘s fandoms that pushed the notion that success marks the start of a generation, while other groups who don’t hit big get ignored or pushed out as part of that generation, like what happened to gidle. Or in Itzy’s case their success gets diminished to make Aespa’s success look more important to their generation. They really want that “opened the generation” title to go to Aespa only

  • Still lies, Dalla Dalla was huge there and was the first ever big hit from a 4th gen group and yes, thanks for remembering that Wannabe was also the first huge hit internationally by a 4th gen group. So congrats Itzy for doing both.

So the mys op was talking about must be your type which isn't a surprise to me seeing how when Aespa has big hits like NL and supernova you are so loud and quick to discredit any other 4th gen group, but the moment they stayed 80% of their career doing just good, ok, you go silent.

In 2019 obviously 4th wouldn't get the spotlight bc 3rd gen was still massive, but this means nothing when we already had Idle, Itzy, Everglow, SKZ, TXT, the same way 5th gen are finding it hard to become popular when 4th gen is still pretty much active and big. The same way 3rd gen saw a huge growth in 2015 after 2nd gen started to slow down.

You won't come here and try to act as if Aespa was the first, the pioneers when after NL in 2021 their next big hit was in 2024. Bfr. 3 years without having another big hit.

And fix yourself full of jealousy of others groups, it's embarrassing how you act just bc finally Aespa had a good year enough for you to be loud.

If some mys think that way then what changes?

Let’s say Mys think the way you described them in the thread, so what is the goal of the thread after we found out the answer to the question?

What kind of message you want to share with this thread? Genuinely asking

  • Sorry but you have very wrong info about Aespa’s career.

Itzy has only 1 hit which is Dalla Dalla

Let’s look how Aespa’s title tracks charted on melon

    Next Level - 1

    Savage - 1

    Girls -8

    Spicy - 1

    Drama - 2

    Supernova - 1

    Armageddon -5

    Whiplash - 2

To my knowledge only dalla dalla is the only itzy song that reached top 3 in melon

  • A hit as big as Dalla Dalla is NL and Supernova. Period.

Idc about Itzy, I prefer Aespa, but it's hypocrite to act like Aespa has been the top group when in 2022/23 they were also overshadowed by others ggs and my point is that Itzy had the very first big 4th gen hit in SK and ww.

  • In 2019 obviously 4th wouldn't get the spotlight bc 3rd gen was still massive, but this means nothing when we already had Idle, Itzy, Everglow, SKZ, TXT, the same way 5th gen are finding it hard to become popular when 4th gen is still pretty much active and big. OMG girl go work on your Kpop history at this point it's starting to be so obvious that you know absolutely nothing

3rd gen didn't have to wait for 2nd gen to slow down to get big

the moment Exo released Growl in 2023 they become a top group and mark the took off of 3rd gen with

3rd gen Groups getting finally attention from the public

like AOA with miniskirt in 2014

Exid with Up& Down in 2014

    Got7

3 years with no hit ?

Please stop embarassing yourself you're not even funny

girl is going around everywhere saying Blackpink Pink venom and Shut down were a hit in korea

and then you have the guts to come HERE and tell me aespa didn't have a hit in 3 years ?

when Spicy literally outcharted Pink venom and Shut down on gaon digital chart

    and same thing for Drama

pretty bold coming from to say Aespa no hits in 3 years

but when it's your favs it's a hit even if they got outcharted
