Is K-Pop the music genre you listen to the most?

  • Do you listen mainly to K-Pop? 33

    1. No, I listen to other music and K-Pop isn't the genre I listen to the most (20) 61%
    2. Yes, majority of the music I listen to is K-Pop (13) 39%

I'm shamelessly proud to admit and own how down bad I am for K-Pop compared to other music genres.

Outside of Kendrick Lamar's latest album, no other artists are getting anywhere close to the amount of listens as my K-Pop playlists.

    What about you?

  • As far as music I listen to recreationally, I probably listen to Kpop the most. But that's just at the moment (in the past 3-4 months or so). It fluctuates.

  • I listen to different genres and right now, I think my most listened genres are split between kpop and general instrumental music (soundtracks, folk, modern classical and some classical music). Then after that are other genres I like, but it fluctuates all the time.

Overall, I'd say kpop is maybe about 40% of what I listen to now? Then 40% instrumental and 20% other genres. I can't say the majority of what I listen to is kpop, but kpop has been a very strong presence in my music preferences ever since I discovered it and is one of the genres I listen to regularly and without breaks.

Edit: I forgot to say, I voted no

  • According to Spotify, I listen to Western music more than K-Pop, hence my answer.

  • It ossicilates between Western pop/Kpop every year for me.

This year was dominated by Billie/Chappel/Sabrina/Sza/Amaarae/Raye.

So western pop wins by a landslide this year.

My 2nd spot is consistently always Jpop. It never dominates but it never leaves either. So Kpop is 3rd most genre this year, outside of BP solos and some groups cb it was quite lackluster for me.

  • My most listened to is JPop :3

I'll give you some songs I currently enjoy a lot that I recommend for everyone who should check out JPop, maybe I inspire someone to get into JPop ^^

  • Yeah I guess so. I listen to a lot of kpop. But that’s because my others genres are more diverse. Like I shuffle between pop and rock and instrumental and Bollywood lol so none of them are more % wise than kpop.

But over all I listen to music that’s not kpop more than I do kpop.

  • In the past 2 years it's been just one kpop singer whom I listen to more than anyone else. Other than him, I listen to music in my mother tongue much more than kpop. A few years ago however kpop was indeed my most listened to genre

Oh that's so cool to see someone here who also likes Bollywood music! I often stick to soundtracks from the movies I like and discovered only one new album this year, but it's one of the genres I like.

  • I had a phase where jpop was all I listened to, but only songs from anime like a true weeb.

    I'm better now :meme-erm:

You need to listen to other music from Japan! Give me the style of music you preffer (girlgroups, boygroups, soloists, maybe the names of your fave artists) and I will match you with the perfect JPop-acts if you like

Oh that was many years ago during my anime deep dive phase. Now I'm more diverse, but I still prefer girl bands usually. A friend really put me on SaiSai, and I've always liked Babymetal. Even saw them in Osaka Dome once with the original trio

  • There's a lot of fluctuation in my listening. Kpop is always in my playlist, but I go through obsessions where I just listen to the same artist for a month at a time. I'm currently in an Ethel Cain phase.
