Girls Generation Hyoyeon calls out juniors for lack of greeting manners

  • I know my opinion or anyone elses here doesn't matter regarding this but I vote to get rid of traditional Korean greetings altogether. It's an outdated custom that forces young people to treat their seniors like they are an Emperor. Those dozens of 90 degree bows people are required to perform when out in public or at gatherings is exhausting and annoying to watch. Why not everyone act like everyone is equal?

Sorry Hyoyeon but times change. Kids these days aren't into that crap. Speaking "hello" is plenty courteous enough.

  • in the opposite to you I like those greetings and respect

in same time Hyoyeon is '89 liner, and there are kids now who are '08, '09 or even were born in 2010

I get all customs but... there might be people who genuinely would be stunned when see someone like her, got shy and somehow just walk around

and doesn't matter if she likes it or not, for some of them she is just 'some auntie' now who they barely know, because when SNSD was at their prime those kids were chodings in kindergarten

  • What is the world for old fashioned?

    Kongsomething?

  • The more Kpop drops these customs, more it loses its distinctiveness and becomes amorphous with Western pop.

If there is nothing distinctive about Kpop, from culture to language of the lyrics, why should I bother listening to them any more than other industries.

I know it is a challenge to reach larger and varied audience while retaining cultural distinctiveness. Yet that is the job.

Bowing to seniors is just one of those things,

  • I think bowing is ok, but it doesn't need to be a 90 degree like idols do to their their CEOs that pay their money. Just bc she is a senior in the industry doesn't give her the "authority" to receive a 90 degree bow.

But I do like a respectful environment and greeting others isn't even difficult.

  • I actually like this custom, even though it was surprising at first.

It only feels like a stretch to me if we're talking about people a few years younger/older and they know eah other. But if it's someone you don't personally know and who is 10 or more years older, I feel like it's a simple sign of respect to politely great your senior.

  • Most of the new Idols, especially from the BIG4 are entitled kids.

Bach in the days it was so nice to see Idols talking with each other, even messing with each others. In a way, the interactions between Idols is nonexistent anymore, because of the toxic new Kpop fans.

  • well you can't force other people to get rid of their culture, same ways asking for Korean to mess with our own culture, however for some reason I find some people that keep calling this issue is like some attention seeker. Why not just directly reprimand the junior instead telling it to the whole world because not everyone will understand the country culture.

Not just them, many other groups were entertaining on stage. The Red Velvet and Mamamoo interactions were crazy funny.😂 Not to mention the Mamamoo and BTS ones. After they became massive, they had to act like robots, basically.
