It has become clear that BTS' military service was completely in vain and it cost them their global empire

  • The conservative regime in South Korea is in its death throes. It might linger on for a few more weeks, but its prognosis is very poor.

Since it would be the second time a conservative government has fallen in less than 10 years, it is unlikely that the conservative faction will gain power in South Korea for quite a long time. The rabid conservative politicians who called for BTS military service are going to be swept away in this wave.

Hybe should have extended the military service of the younger 3, who happened to be the more important members of the group, until 2026 , the maximum, and I think they would have gotten the exemption with the new government.

Why some people argued for OT7, I don't understand. I even wrote a post about 'suspending' Seokjin and the older members for a while, performing without them around the world, but the mods erased it. I don't know why.

ANd now what? For what? For a country which is responsible for about 5% of BTS' entire revenue, for a country which chose IU and New Jeans above it?

Now Stray Kids, and even BlackPink, have surpassed BTS in all metrics. And, no matter how the New Jeans mess might conclude, OT7 won't continue past the current term of contract, since Taehyung won't go with Hybe after this round is over. Min Heejin might have lost, but she has won in the end.

MHJ would not have tried her attack if BTS were still going strong, and even she had admitted that.

As the world has moved on without BTS, and Bruno Mars and Roseanne Park, MBE, having obliterated KPop like a Godzilla, with aespa running for exits and Illit completely crushed, BTS basically has to start from scratch, with the disdainful eyes of Stray Kids, and Seventeen who has sold more albums than it.

With the younger three, called JVJ, forming a unit, we would not have heard too much about Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, Shaboozey, or indeed Bruno Mars and Roseanne Park, MBE. And Seventeen and Stray Kids would have remained as also rans.

Instead, Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen and Shaboozey no longer consider BTS to be their equals, and Bruno Mars, Roseanne Park, MBE, Seventeen and Stray Kids treat BTS as someone they can push over if they really try.

    For what? For what?

Some people say hindsight is 20/20. But gaining time for the more important three members and giving them more exposure was the way to go, and now all of that came to be nought.

Are Armies ready to endure the smirk from Christopher Bang, an Australian (although he was born in Korea, something no Korean males are pointing out), like Floyd Mayweather looking at someone he haed just beaten, when SKZ beats BTS' total concert attendance in 2026

  • WhyKnock

Changed the title of the thread from “It has become clear that BTS' military service was completely in vain and it cost them its global empire” to “It has become clear that BTS' military service was completely in vain and it cost them their global empire”.
  • This is the same talk about BP being surpassed, etc just bc they go in hiatus, but when they cb they become the main talk, break their own ww records etc.

BTS are huge, their solos success gp wise and fandom wise shows they have the support and when they cb they'll dominate like we already know and their tour will be massive.

But it does not move the world around anymore

  • I think BTS is doing just fine, lol. Just because they're not at their absolute "peak" doesn't mean there's anything wrong. Nobody can stay consistently in the headlines 24/7...

If they at the peak continued to fight the giants they would have maintained their supremacy until next year and raked billions

now all that they can hope for is just not being forgotten

BP does not matter as far as the main narrative is concerned.

They have not come back yet but it is doubtful they would have kept its edge

And BTS is already surpassed by SKZ.

Surpassed where?? SKZ are really becoming huge, but a quick look at Spotify and you'll see who is the most streamed kpop act again this year.

BTS is still considered the most success kpop act ever ww and this didn't change.

  • If BTS had put off their enlistment, their inevitable worldwide tour would have been in like 2030. BTS will be fine, their solo activities have made it even more obvious that all of them are capable artists in their own right. There's barely been a month where a BTS member hasn't released music since 2022.

No. It would have toured in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, with one or two members missing, before getting into a hiatus in 2026 or so.

BTS will be fine, as a minor act, as acts which have restored their influences congregate at the top.

Only Jungkook is relevant on the world stage.

SKZ' current tour is now bigger than BTS' largest tour in 2019

and it is likely to double its tour in 2026 just so it would have a bigger tour than what BTS could manage by that point of time

    Surpassing BTS once for all

Not really bts last few songs flopped bad.

  • Not really bts last few songs flopped bad.

The song they chose was not people were expecting and it wasn't catchy. Fans wanted the other song to be promoted but I guess it was fitting for the hiatus. BTS last comeback debuted at #1 in melon but it didn't have the longevity that their usual upbeat song has. BTS always depends on the songs if will do well. People thought they were over when they released Black Swan and On then Dynamite happened.

BTS did residency concerts in 2021-2022 and Suga toured in 2023. Next year, J-hope is rumored to have a tour before the members come back in June 2025.
