The CEO of Big Hit Music, the agency for BTS and TXT, has been replaced from Shin Young-jae to Shin Seon-jung.

On November 26, Big Hit Music announced, "We have appointed GM Shin Seon-jung as the new CEO."

Shin Seon-jeong, the new CEO, joined Big Hit Entertainment, the predecessor of HYBE, in 2010 and contributed to the birth and early growth of the world-renowned artist BTS.

In particular, as the head of HYBE’s T&D (Training & Development) business office and GM, she led the advancement of the rookie development system, such as trainee selection and development and operation of education programs tailored to the characteristics of each HYBE label. Artists who debuted through the T&D program include BTS, Tomorrow x Together, Enhypen, Seraphim, and &TEAM.

Shin was named to the '2022 Billboard 40 Under 40', which honors young leaders under the age of 40 leading the global music industry, and to the '2023 Billboard Women in Music's MULTI SECTOR category, which recognizes female artists, creators, producers, and executives who have had a significant impact on the music industry.

With CEO Shin's appointment, Big Hit Music is expected to further strengthen its sustainable growth and competitiveness in the global music market. Based on his abundant experience and expertise in the industry, he will take the lead in stabilizing and improving the label's operation system and expanding new businesses.

CEO Shin Young-jae, who led Big Hit Music for four years since 2020, will focus on his role as the first CEO of HYBE MUSIC GROUP APAC, which oversees the domestic and Japanese multi-label business among the music business sectors.

HYBE explained, "HYBE Music Group APAC is a new organization established in August in accordance with HYBE's new growth strategy 'HYBE 2.0'. It focuses on strengthening strategies and processes necessary for label business growth and innovation, investing resources, and enhancing music service functions."

She's been with them since 2010 so I do hope that they will be better treated. She's also the one who fought for Jimin to debut. Without her, we won't have the final line-up of BTS.

  • So, they’re trying to ‘replicate' Mhj by putting a female ceo in their biggest sublabel to shake off the misogynistic label. Honestly, it’s kind of funny. But seriously, girl, run. A company that’s already done this to two of their female higher-ups (and who knows how many others just stayed quiet) is obviously not a good place for women. They used and throw these women like a trash when they're done with them. And we all know that this new ceo is just a puppet who’ll take all the blame if anything goes wrong. This is kind of a weird time too, to appoint someone new, especially with that messy feud going on and affecting the whole company. So yup, she’s basically just another shield for Bsh and all his gaming bros. People here who thought that she will have any kind of power or influence as a ceo, just wake up please.

Aside from potentially trying to remove the misogynistic label, it seems like BH appointed a person that their artist trust (which I guess they're trying to maintain after all the mess.)

  • I read that she fought for Jimin against BSH so she is a plus in my book. I am remembering Tae ‘s tearful letter from BV 2 where he said how very close it was that Bang was kicking JIMIN out of the group

I do not remember Taehyung explicitly mentioning Bang Shi Hyuk in his letter to Jimin. He merely said there was a "company meeting"? Where did he say Bang Shi Hyuk wanted to kick Jimin out?

BSH was against jimin's debut? I always assumed he's his favourite along with Jungkook.

As far as I know, no one knows who was explicitly against Jimin's debut. And no one knows who that man's favourite is either.

If I were to speculate here like everybody else is doing, I could say it was RM. Because he has worked side by side with RM even before BTS debut and he praised his talent multiple times. But that's just speculation because it could just be his respect for RM rather than favouritism. As far as I know, BSH has never actually mentioned his favourite BTS member. Like it makes no sense to spread that he dislikes or favourites a particular member either. It just breeds hate, even to the member that's raised in question.

And when it comes to the CEO lady. Good for her. Like I don't really have anything more to say about these people. I quite enjoyed it when we didn't know who was the CEO. Cause that meant we didn't pay as much attention to the company :skull:

Not everything is about your MHJ and you know well that MHJ brought what came upon herself with her plans documented in her chats. She is no victim.

I am not sure about that part (of who was against Jimin) but the boys spoke a lot about this in the early interviews. Jimin was almost cut many times before debuting because he struggled to adapt to the hiphop style dancing envisioned for the group. He was not a company favourit at first. I think he said that he was almost kicked out 8 times? Because of failing monthly evaulations.
