In defense of “CLIK CLAK” by BABYMONSTER

  • Maybe it’s too jarring of a concept change. Maybe some people just don’t like when idols go full rapper.

After more listens and multiple performance videos, it really isn’t that bad. It’s catchy, and the buildup to that final chorus and outro is excellent.

The choreo is fun and cute.

David33 said the girls are too new to the industry to be bragging so much, but I disagree. K-pop is manufactured, and that’s not something to shame or reject. It’s something to embrace. K-pop openly and unapologetically portrays lore. It’s something we won’t always find in other genres, but it’s abundant in K-pop.

There’s also the argument that the girls are too young to act so badass. I disagree. I think it might even be worse to see some older people doing this concept because, by that time, they should have outgrown that “swag” phase. “Swag” is a young person’s game after all.

  • I enjoy hip hop/rap music but I don't know why I didn't like this song.

Maybe it was the lyrics or the music I had an issue with. I'm still not sure.

Or I was expecting more of a continuation of Batter Up or Sheesh concepts.

I guess I was caught off guard. I don't know.

Maybe I expected this tough concept to be used down the line.

    Again, I don't know.

  • Well said! I was thinking the same thing about the first argument you mention, it's just kind of silly to gripe over that when in reality much of kpop is manufactured, and there's nothing wrong with that. And I really don't think their age makes much of a difference either. For me it's really just I felt some members of the group seem forced into the concept. I'd probably say the same thing if Jisoo or Rose went full rapper, I just don't think the concept would suit them. The song is good though other than some issues with the lyrics.

  • Tbh I don't think any of their songs are bad, they have one of the loveliest vocals ffs. It's just that there's still no "This is it!" factor in any of their songs yet. None of the songs makes them stand out. That's also probably why yg is trying all this new concepts so one would stick. Sadly none stuck, yet.

People keep saying "swag" doesn't suit them. But tbf blackpink had that phase too. If you watch their early tv appearances they appeared very mellow and shy, in contrast to their songs. I like to call it the "pink" part of blackpink. Now yg is doing the same thing to babymonster. People see them as "Baby" but they have a darker "monster" within. Unfortunately since none of their songs suit them or became really popular, people just decide to call them swaggy tryhards.

  • my native language is not english so ı can't say anything about that, when it comes to the ' they are too young' thing, ı can't really understand. for me this is a kpop thing most of the ıdols too young. another point ' they don't suit...' is invalid for me. cause ı think the youngest, rora and chiquta, are the one of the outstanding members for me. but ı really can't judge people, after all, there is a consensus among nonfans and native english speakers so yeah ı understand but kpop is not like that for me. ı'm open the cringe and weird stuffs

  • I didn't like the end part, it doesn't fit the song at all. Other than that the clik clak is just another onbrand YG hip hop track that lacks any nuisance and deep meaning. I mean there's like a zillion songs about flexing and money so it's super boring to see YG making the same music over and over again. The one thing I can say about the song is it has fun choreography and it made me bias Chiquita and Rora.

As long as it made you bias Chiquita and Rora, expecially Chiquita. :yesr:

Chiquita has been working on her facial expressions, and her dancing is excellent.

She’s also been learning how to rap.

  • honestly I think click clack is good ( it's a matter of preference ) I would only change some parts of the lyric but the concept itself is not bad because the girls can pull it off with their charisma. We can't deny the girls are at least good performers People need to understand that every company have their style which in yg is more hip hop ish

Also based on YouTube reactions some people like it at least I haven't seen negative feedback

  • We can agree to disagree. BM failed to sell that concept to me, I cringe every time Chiquita says living large. Most of the girls do not match the concept, it feels, looks anda sounds wrong to me. Regardless of my opinion, someone has to like it, right. Good other people do, cause if it would depend on me, Clik Clak would have never seen the sun light, not even for 2NE1 - maybe just for Minzy and CL duo.

I still think they're too new to do this, but not gonna lie, the song is kinda grown on me over time. My biggest problem, is that this isn't their 1st or even the 2nd cringy diss track. Doing once is okay, doing twice, sure, why not, but doing it the 3rd time in the span of 1 year is just way too much.

But I have to disagree on that last part. It's not about their age. If that would be the case, I wouldn't stan Young Posse.

IF there's anything this song is good for, it is that people finally see why I always say Rami is the real ACE of the group.

The real funny thing is that most people, even their own fans hate "TOKYO", but I love it.😂
