Wtf is wrong with starship

  • Ive was the best selling girl group this year per album - both for their korean release (1.7m) and japanese release (188k). Their world tour was massively successful with at least half of it sold out + additional days due high demand.

So why are they being so cheap and doing such a shit job at promoting their biggest act? Dives, I'm not trying to be negative because I enjoyed Spernova Love but the release was a mess, the album cover look like it was made with ai, the mv.. i get that the girls are super busy but it was so half assed. I mean even from the beginning it was a common topic among dives about how zero effort their albums design had. Starship wanted to succeed with the bare minimum and they did it but honestly releasing things in such a half assed way after Ive increased their profits in ways Starship never thought they could is so baffling to me. We all know they have the money because of everything Ive achieved this and last year. I know it's just a collab that was already released at their concerts anyway but treating their cash cow content like an after thought is honestly just absurd

I'm sorry, I just want to correct you a bit about this. Ador and Soumu only have Nj and Lsf as their groups and sources of income. Starship, on the other hand, has a few groups and an acting department, so of course, they’re going to be bigger. Yes no doubt Ive contributes the most, but the numbers are for the whole company, not just them. And if you know what operating profit is, you’d get why it doesn’t make sense for it to only count Ive, since it’s calculated by subtracting operating expenses (for ex: wages, rent, and cost of goods sold) from total revenue. In simple, operating profit shows how well a company is doing in running its business and making money just from its core activities not including things like interest and taxes.

I'm so sorry but as a nerd it's so hard to let this slide...

IVE clearly contributed to Starship profits since their debut in Dec 2021.

But indeed Starship has other less profitable divisions.

Per the tweet above, before IVE's debut they were in the red:

    "2020: -7.14 Billion Won

    2021: -2.54 Billion Won

    2022: 19.82 Billion Won

    2023: 35.01 Billion Won (+77%)"

2024 will likely be higher as catzi mentioned due in part to IVE's world tour.

I'm not sure about that tbh, i always thought starship treated their groups equally since it's so few, mx, wjsn then cravity all used to get decent comebacks with decent budget and promo and i would say cravity got the shorter end of the stick for being the least profitable. This cheapness is new, as someone who've been stanning starship groups since 2017 this lack of promo and budget is the lowest I've seen of starship that's why it's even more mindblowing to me considering they've never been richer as a company then now.

What you don't get is that starships operating profit was NEGATIVE for years before ive's debut, which means they literally skyrocketed their revenue. Monsta X last world tour was in 2018 and the group is barely active now because the members enlisted in the military. Cravity and wjsn doesn't do tours, cravity sold a total of 420k this year and wjsn last album was released in 2022 and sold 196k, do you understand now how little do they count in the yearly net profit? Their other department that manage actors is called king kong, I don't know if it was included in the calculations but starship have that acting department since 2015 lmao so it's obvious how little impact it had in their profits as they only left the negative side after Ive's debut.

I never imply otherwise and clearly pointing out that Ive contributed the most. I just corrected the user because the overall numbers include the entire company, not just Ive, so those numbers do not represent only them. And the data shown by the user above didn’t show Starship operating profits in negative since 2021; they may have been prior to that, but I can’t speak to that without any data.

As the data we're talking about were from 2023, here’s a breakdown of the album sales from all Starship groups that year:

    Cravity: 303,914 + 337,203 + 26,045 = 667,162

In addition to this, Cravity also had their first world tour and had held two fan concerts.

    MONSTA X: 438,274

    Shownu x Hyungwon: 178,695

    Total Album Sales: 1,284,131

    Cravity World Tour Profits: ?

All of this still contributes to Starship’s operating profits. You can’t disregard the other groups' contributions on paper just because Ive is making a larger impact. Starship isn’t a one-group company like Ador or soumu, where the company’s earnings are solely from one source only. For Starship, the figures include earnings from multiple groups.

  • Since you already know so much data about this then please answer me what is starship's profit if you remove ive from it?

narcissistic, my god i love it

    JCsIq3Q.gif

  • I don't even think starship it's that much involved in this.it's a collab with a label and I've is the first one. They'll be many not collabs with different artist. The mv is not even uploaded in sse channel but I've content channel. Eg a side project. The mv was shot while they were on tour ( the Europe leg)

  • So what ? IVE sold over 4M albums last year so they made 4x than all SS combined no one said other groups don’t sell well but IVE is clearly carrying 3/4 of total operating profits.

  • I just hope the girls are getting properly paid. It seems like Starship hasn't been managing the income very well, given the fact that they are doing a terrible job promoting IVE this year.
