The Ultimate Question - How much sales BTS has to make in its comeback album to judge it as a success?

  • Minimum sales BTS has to hit to stay relevant 16

    1. 10M or more (6) 38%
    2. 7.5M-10M (3) 19%
    3. 5M-7.5M (2) 13%
    4. 3M-5M (5) 31%

Le Sserafim's album is a failure, no matter how much last minute sales could be conjured up, since it won't hit its height of 1.29mil (Unforgiven) or even its last album , easy, at 989k or so. All figures are first week sales but first week sales usually take majority of all KPop act sales.

Both aespa and Gidle lost 1/3 of their sales, and these are called successes. IVE held the best, losing maybe 20% OF their sales. NJ had lost about 45% of its sales.

Seventeen declined from 5.0mil, to 2.9M. SKZ declined from 4.6M to 2.3M.

If that is not a bloodbath I don't know what it is.

Now, the big question is how much sales will BTS make.

I have said many times that people who failed arithmetic at grade school played a huge role on BTS' enlistment. They floated the longer career theory, and argued it was better to finish their military services and perform till the end of their lives.

I have argued against it all my life and I am being proven correct.

It would have been much better to continue to rule the world till around 2025 and go their way like a supernova, defeating Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen and Kendrick Lamar on the way and having a concert income north of 3 billion, rather than going around arenas in their aging bodies to perform in front of an ever dwindling audience.

Sam Smith recently had a duet with Taeyeon. Who would have thought that Sam Smith and Taeyeon would be used in the same sentence? But such is the fate of a has been singer who is only in demand in the periphery.

Some people thought BTS' comeback album would hit 10 million.

But given the general collapse of KPop albums around all corners, Whyknock thinks it will be lucky to hit 3 million, not beating its record of Map of the Soul:7 at 3.3mil.

    Which seals its decline decisively.

  • I feel like they need to pass whatever Seventeen's record from last year was at the very least. It's wild the three best selling albums ever aren't from BTS. That was unthinkable even in 2022.

How will BTS do that when they do not release album versions beyond 2 and overprice their albums. It is not happening.

I’m sure if HYBE wasn’t greedy they’d sell as much as yes seventeen has a big fanbase but they have 10 versions with over 800 pcs. Bts only produces two versions so.

    I predict 4M max.

  • I just want hybe to stop over-fucking-pricing bts’ album. 50 euros + shipping is absolute insanity.

if hybe is that greedy, just return to the standard 4 NORMAL PRICED albums. I’m very certain most armys will buy all 4 versions, so you still get the money.

btw as an answer I think bts will probably do 4M-5M?

  • The shipping from WeVerse costs more than the album itself. It's weird when I've ordered much heavier things from China with a shipping cost under $2. WeVerse albums are airflown??

  • BTS sold 2M for BE $50 one version.

So I predict a minimum of 3M if they are doing whatever they did with BE, or 4M if we are getting just two expensive versions

If they go back to Mots7 rollout with 4 versions at $15-20, then I predict 7M+

After the MHJ mess, no one is going to bite an album for an arm and leg

But even at lower prices I don't think it will hit 5m

  • And wth has MHJ got to do with BTS sales??

Who the hell cares about mhj? I don't even know what's happening in that mess. Armys, bts fans, care about bts and buying their albums. Who cares about other ceo's and how other groups are doing. this makes no sense.

I voted for 5-7.5m but i forgot hybe is greedy and forgot what normal album price is. 3-5m is a no brainer but i think it will be more.

  • 1 Digital Album...

The group is already beyond measuring with Sales numbers because it's inevitable that they will make money. So selling 1 Digital Album, which is the cheapest version, is merely a flex that would gain more media attention than the tens of millions that all Kpop groups sold while they were on hiatus.
