We fans demand too much of idols singing live when the circumstances are impossible to do it

  • Just look at the dance choreography that has evolved ever since 3rd gen to now. It's super complex dance and idols are out of breath when they finish a show. It's impossible to demand them singing 100% live with high notes.

For comparison between 2nd gen and 5th gen.

  • Skill issue. It's not impossible if you're good enough. SNSD came out with ITNW and sang live as kids.

Besides there's no need for harder dances if it affects singing, nothing wrong with “simpler” dances, but we're at a point where idols struggle to sing live standing still during encores so why not go the extra mile and cover that up by making use of lip sync for tough dancing.

  • And they better damned well be able to pull all of it off at a moments notice, while overcome with emotion, should they ever win a TV show prize and need to do an encore. They better NAIL that shit.

damn. i check all the boxes. im a kpop fan!

I know it may seem sexist, but this is a really bad comparison. Like it or not, men has better stamina, especially if we want to compare them with little girls.

Technically, it's not impossible, because we've seen Idols doing hard dance choreos and still sang live, but the question is wrong.

Fans should demand more live singing than more visuals! That's why this is happening right now. People care too much about visuals, especially the new Kpop fans, because they became Kpop fans when this whole madness started. Kpop became a real Circus, not only in terms of fandom wars but on stage as well.

  • Some choreo is not physically possible. Its just physics. If a choreo have you bouncing around stage, the vocal will be off when you land on the ground, the vibration will throw things off. You can test by just going ahhhhhh and jumping up and down.

That's why for performances, you have the performance oriented tracks and the vocal oriented tracks with minimal to no choreo. And nothings wrong with that split. One for the eyes and one for the ears.

  • im biased, but that bottom choreo isnt any harder then nmixx

yet we get encores with choreo perfectly fine

e/ the thing with modern kpop, is its become big enough to where only the music/visuals can matter, so companies can put out idols that have no training and they can fumble there way to money

  • SNSD came out with ITNW and sang live as kids

A bad example as SNSD had a Dance Version and a Vocal Version of thier songs, it's SME's policy since their first generation of Idols.

They do their Dance Version of ITNW for their 2nd song but their first song is their Live Verson where their vocals aren't up to scratch.

BTW, SME were one of the few Kpop Companies to have dual versions, the rest just lipsynched

  • Well, it is their job to do both at a reasonable standard because they have been trained to do so but it is also true that they sing way more during promotions than Taylor Swift would when she initially promotes and she doesn't normally shake her ass while doing it.

  • If this thread was about singing in every weekly show, I would agree (it's more important to save their voice for concerts and things like this), but I don't think choreo should be a excuse. If the choreo is demanding enough that they can't sing, they're the same as back dancers.

The thing that makes me mad is people that mocks the ones who likes kpop and good vocals. I know that kpop industry makes harder to create vocal centered groups, I don't expect every idol to sing like Mariah, but being able to sing their lines well and on tune is the bare minimum.

Since this is a vocal thread, the grace deserved better:
