You're using the wrong metrics to compare them though. They're a failure in comparison to who? The girl groups after them? The girl groups who promoted at the same time as them?
Remember, album sales reaching over 100K for GGs were pretty rare during the time MissA was promoting. I would compare their numbers to the girl groups at the time, and then again with their digital sales. They were one of the top girl groups at the time (frequently making it into top 10 lists).

What i see is a decrease in sales with time, an album per year, an hiatus of two years in the end. Also no japanese albums. For what i know JYP tend to milk the cow alot with multiple comebacks for their most popular groups. Why they didnt do the same with Miss A if they were popular? Btw, I barely know how second gen was. Thats why i ask.
so a 2nd gen girl group that did manage to get Perfect All Kill on the charts is questioned if it's a failed group or not in 2024

Digitals are mostly a proxy for contracts, TV appearances, and endorsements. If you are REALLY popular, you can even hold concerts and headline big festivals
For that, you need star power, really big star power. Very few groups have that. Most of kpop groups needs solid fandom. Ok, now it's time to end with the facts and start with analysis/theory/speculation:
2 years after their debut the group's star power was Suzy, and thanks to her acting appearances. She was HUGE in the media, think of her as a Korean Selena Gomez. Now think of Miss A as a group where the music success was somehow derived from media, not the other way around. In this case, why milk the group with music activities that don't increase their brand value?
"Better to let Suzy keep regular appearances in dramas and films", is what JYP probably thought. Whether he was right or wrong is an object of contention and I have no intention of picking a side here
When the group came back in 2015 they were already "Suzy A". It was clear it was pointless to keep the group afloat when the success was derived from someone who prioritized their acting and media career. JYP simply given up on them and let them finished their contract on indefinite hiatus
2PM made way more money than them.
Anyone saying missA was a failure NEEDED to be around that time to understand that they weren't doing terrible. I think obviously the optics of being sandwiched between Girls Generation/Wonder Girls and Blackpink/Twice skews the impact but still very solid. Listen Suzy doesn't become big if they were abject failures.
