This was the dumbest shit ever to say. Tells me you know jack shit about Korea and the industry. Most idols work hard and are talented. Becoming an idol here is fuckin hard work. That's one thing our country does right is hard work.
99% of groups and trainees don't make it passed the training phase as group concepts,images and companies come and go way before debut.
The one's that made it the SHINee BTS exo monsta x NCT etc these are the groups that made it. Most don't debut at all
Also there's plenty of groups that have talent or even more talent than BTS but aren't BTS SHINee exo infinite BigBang etc etc jaejoong. This silly industry even spent millions on research to try and recreate BTS, if there was a "formula" everyone would have done it. The reason BTS is where it is, is Alot of luck that came together much dumb luck nobody not even bang sihyuk could have predicted. Timing: BTS debut around the time Korea was opening more to the outside world and dabbling in Western music and international advertisement. Social media and streaming services like YouTube etc were just maturing or had just finished maturing where a large majority of people used these websites and apps and things started to migrate over to it
Cultural shift: Korea becoming more open to the west and open to more cultural change is what really did it. BTS came out with music that resonated more with the younger crowd in Korea and in the west with music that seemed like a rebellion group rage against the machine type of stuff criticizing the government, culture etc stuff that's usually more taboo here in Asia but things were changing where this kind of stuff is more accepting. And western cultures love this type of narrative which is why they got adopted soo quickly by international fans, coupled with the insanely fast popularity of social media and them adopting it primarily early on cemented their success.
If BTS had debut around the time BigBang came out or when infinite or rain debuted they would have flopped day one because the nation back then was NOT open to this kind of music/behavior and was not very open to the outside world nor connected with western entertainment and social media and internet etc was still faar too in it's infancy to carry the information and window into Asia.

Even I knew what you were trying to say. Being like BTS copying them the first thing isn't looks but is talent.
You weren't Tryna throw shade at riize but correcting that statement.

y'all need to decide for once and for all if BTS got popular for their skills despite being an ugly group or if they got popular because of their visuals only
They were so ugly they actually became handsome.

Hearing SM stans admitting BTS is the standard is hilarious to me ngl (they want to throw shades to bts so much but they still want their fave to be them lol)
