Also I think most kpop stan nowadays forget just how big BTS were internationally even before their 2017 American breakthrough, it wasn't just 'hype' they had the numbers to back it up.
And they weren't that Nugu in korea like people make out to be Kiss of life is more nugu

Taeyang also said that BTS have done better than bigbang ever did, it is a 2 way street. Bigbang are 1 of the many artists that inspired BTS members, they are far from being the only artists BTS have looked up to, which if u listened to kpop stans that's exactly what they'd lead you to believe. Not to mention the countless idols who have stated that if not for BTS they wouldn't be as big as they are internationally now.

Dude it's ok many groups were inspired by Bigbang cuz they were The model of success at that time just like how Bts is The model of success for many groups now, and google is free you can look it up

I dunno about BB specifically, but Suga definitely loved Teddy hyung's sound. He hilariously confessed that BangPD tricked him into thinking he would be joining a group like Teddy's 1Tym lol.

The comments ain't pretty, but Natty is
I cam into this thread ready to have a discussion about Kiss of Life's potential in 5th gen coming from a small company.
But threads been heavily derailed about everyone rhubarbing on about the "Next BTS" thing instead, even though OP clearly stated the reasoning for that term.

This is the Reddit post:
They have the music, the talent and the looks. I think they will follow a similar path to bts (not comparing them as artists, their overall success or experiences!!) where they will have a big global following before being appreciated in SK *industry since they are from a nugu company. The attention they are getting online reminds me of rookie bts when they gained many fans before they had a proper platform in the industry since they weren’t from a big company. Not saying they will be as big as bts (nobody will probably) but they will be the next breakout star from a nugu company.
For me, people forget that BTS literally popularized social media in Kpop landscape. That's one of the reasons why their online hype matches the size of their fanbase.
For KOL, they're doing well with a lot of online hype among international Kpop fans now, but this isn't new. Before them, there were groups like XG last year and 50/50 earlier this year that these 'fans' swear will become the 'Next Big Thing' in Kpop. The same kind of excitement was seen with groups like Loona, Dreamcatcher, Cherry Bullet, and more during early of their days. Yet, not everyone becomes as big as Gidle or Stayc.
International kpop fans often get too excited about these groups until newer shiny nugu group come along, and the cycle repeats. We said these to top groups, but the narrative fits these nugu groups better. At least, those popular groups will still popular even if they're not on the top anymore, but these smaller groups? They have their high hopes seeing the hype they receive online just to be forgotten the next day when these kpop fans find new toys to hype or when their songs didn't as hit as before. Stayc and Gidle able to bounce back, but how many of these smaller groups will able to do so?
In conclusion, Kpop fans should stop taking online hype or hate too literal.
I agree with Reddit guy, KIOF is the next big thing. People are tired from Big-4 laziness, that put nothing fresh in industry, offering recycled concepts from the past years only. KIOF gives a vibe of early Gidle, a group with creative approach to music and aesthetics.
Despite the girls become trendy among idols and the general public in Korea, they still did not release their own "Latata" or "Dalla Dalla" - superhit song that will drop KIOF on the peak of the mountain. The next comeback should be a breakthrough, lets anticipate it.
