Mapping Out K-Pop’s Global Dominance
-
-
K-pop has not hit its peak despite what some have said. The quality of music is still high - the metrics prove it via the number of listeners globally. To have a 42% increase in streams this year compared to last for the top artists is significant.
The article is on point - the biggest three stories of this year are Newjeans, Fifty Fifty, and Jungkook.

India is really becoming a very formidable consumer of kpop. And kpop has probably only tapped into a very small percentage of the available audience. Metrics could exponentially grow if India’s true potential is realized as well.
-
indians really went through a cupid phase huh
-
Stray Kids has never toured on the regions of 37% of their public through on-demand streaming (LATAM + Europe).
If not next year...

It seems the K-pop industry as a whole don't value the importance of India as a market to explore. I don't even think there's another indian K-pop idol other than Sriya from Black Swan.

I think we talked about this last year. I remember being shocked at just how popular SKZ was in Lat America, how they trended like crazy in a dozen countries from Mexico all the way down to Chile.
People really diss on SKZ, they are Kpop's whipping boys, but they have a greater reach than BTS, BP, Twice, NJ in Lat America, US, and Europe combined. They are the least reliant on Asian streams
-
Yes, I remember when we had a conversation about it!
Their popularity in Europe is also worth mentioning and a lot of people are not that aware.

You should change the title of this thread to:
"Stray Kids bigger than BP, BTS, Twice and NJ outside of Asia"

But they aren't bigger than BTS and BLACKPINK outside Asia. I don't support trolling, bphouse
Their streams just have a different balance, but It is judged individually.

It’s interesting how BP is bigger than BTS in 31/34 countries in YouTube. ARMY definitely ditched YT and switched to Spotify. I wonder how this last 12 months is compared to the 12 months prior to it just to check the % difference. I do think there’s huge difference.

Aside from preferring Spotify, the youtube streams are divided between BTS and its members. Based on the daily viewed BTS-related videos on Youtube, most ARMYS are focusing on streaming individual contents.

I don’t think you learnt statistics in school

Sorry that I caused all the Stray Kids-streams from Europe
-
Probably! The data was from october 2022 to october 2023, which is a lot closer to Pink Venom and Born Pink's release than BTS' last comeback.

next tour will be even more massive
they'll tour more
AND I'LL BE THERE SEEING THEM AGAIN

So kpop acts get more streams in 3 foreign countries than they do in Korea (top 100 acts)
No wonder they all want to make more international music.
Japan has not fully gone all in with streaming, once they do, they will just increase as the most important kpop market.
(I assume China is being excluded because is difficult to independently confirm their numbers)
