How come the new treasure has sold nearly 2m on Gaon & only 600k on Hanteo?

Mind you this is more than the likes of EN- and ATEEZ who both have far better stats across the board ;judgingpepe:

  • It's strange if they're more popular than Enhypen, and the same goes for Ateez and ZB1. They're all selling more than Enhypen recent hit album Dark Blood, therefore I'm presuming the high inflation in sales is causing a massive jumble in figures for so many groups recently.

  • Circle/Gaon takes into account all shipments by distributors and record labels to retailers; includes stock orders and re-orders placed by stores and websites. Ship backs/returns will also reflect on Circle/Gaon over time. Distributors must also be a KMCIA member for the shipments to be reported.

Hanteo counts real-time sales of purchase across all Hanteo-affiliated stores.

There are still REBOOT album orders not yet shipped to buyers. The albums just recently arrived in Japan. U.S shops will start shipping out the albums by tomorrow until the end of August.

Only time will tell if there's over shipment and overstocking of the albums.

    It's already 2023, keep up. :eyeroll-pepe:

  • Agreed, we've seen bigger circle sales than hanteo sales for years now and with the rise of international sales links and few actually being hanteo certified gaps are only going to rise. They had treasure doing concerts in Japan for 3 months solid and have dates scheduled for China and most of SEA so big circle numbers aren't a surprise.

Separately, do you know any reason hanteo sales would be bigger than circle sales? saw a tweet this morning saying nmixx's latest CB only just surpassed 890k on circle but its over 1mill on hanteo and now I'm confused.

EXO's Hanteo numbers are better than their Circle numbers too, I think Lisa's solo *still* has less sales on Circle than Hanteo too. I can't make sense of it. The nature of both charts seems that it should be impossible lol.

  • unrelated to anything you said but Seeing that Pepe emote rolling its eyes non stop makes my eyes hurt

I've been googling and ZB1 fans are saying that if there are issues with the international shipping this can happen. I.e. if you pre-order from a hanteo affiliate store hanteo counts it as sold but on circle since the album hasn't been shipped out yet its not counted. They are also saying stuff about circle not counting pre-ordered sales as sales (which makes 0 sense unless we say that Aespa sold 3.9 mill on circle (1.8 preorders not counted and then circle 2.1 counted sales). Craziest thing is there was a post a couple weeks ago about some international shipping sites lying about being hanteo affiliated and being called out for it.

The first explanation kinda works for EXO and Nmixx but neither really fully explain Lisa's situ. I have seen posts from some EXO-L's that they never received their ordered Kai albums even a year later and loads were posting about their orders being cancelled for the group CB so maybe that happened for Lisa?

  • Sales of groups have been REALLY strange lately

For some groups Hanteo/Circle numbers completely mismatch. Zerobaseone and EXO Hanteo figures are bigger than Circle. Which is odd, how can a sale counts if the copies are not shipped by the companies?

Conversely, I don't get how a group can move massive differences between Hanteo and Circle without major support in specific markert.

Where is the transparency? Why can't we have a very clear and reliable measure for albums? :policepepe:

  • I also NEVER understood the returns policy

It used to be a thing until mid 2018

But since then I don't recall absolutely any group having returns of more than a few hundreds of copies

I honestly find impossible, in a era where a dozen different groups are shipping 1 million plus album, with many going as far as 4 million that NOT A SINGLE COMPANY miscalculated shipments and needed returns when in past when sales were smaller and directed to Korea it used to happen

Either companies developed some kind of dark magic to predicted shipments accurately or they just found some ways to hide overshipments and prevent returns on Circle

As far as I know, there's still no conclusive explanation for that.

Could it be that the albums are already scanned and counted as sales before even reaching respective stores/retailers and consumers? Who knows.

LALISA sales are still a mystery until today.

One explanation that I saw online is that the succeeding version/s didn't have proper documentation/certification for them to be officially reported, which I don't really get.

Maybe it's a mix of incompetence by YGE/YG+ and over shipment or returns. There were also reports of cancelled orders out of the blue.

  • I have heard they changed the way they counted albums but for it to have such a huge impact is mad. Sure its not the first month as yet, but circle counts all albums sent to distributors internal and external, so anything sold by Hanteo should already have been counted for by circle, so what has hanteo done thats skipping out distributors? Only thing I can think of is having albums for C-fans sold directly to C-fans who ordered a special plane for their delivery and it didn't enter the hands of any of the usual circle handlers who would count them but even then...how would fans negotiate that?

I have heard whispers of fans bulk buying albums with US addresses but the addresses are either missing key address info so can't be delivered or are sent to warehouses in the US to count for billboard - even if that happens it would still count for circle, unless they somehow skipped the distribution channels and had them stored in some warehouse in SK.

I think the overshipment is deffo a thing, potentially also cancelling orders after the first week of sales but before the order could be shipped so it would count for Hanteo but be down as a return on circle. I mentioned it above but maybe some orders are going through a channel not affiliated with circle so circle isn't counting them? If hanteo is developing its own external channels to try and expand its own influence and decrease the validity of circle it could happen.

  • Idk if that's just for media play or real but I just knew for Enhypen their stats match :gossip-raccoon:
