Now that Soyeon has been humbled do you think she'll go back to her hardcore rap roots?

  • She wanted a #1 hit again like TOMBOY. That much is clear from their reality shows. But the competition and fandoms are too strong. And QC isn't in the same caliber as TOMBOY either. International fans are prohibiting Soyeon from doing "ethnic hip". Her next option is to go back to her roots.

  • The thing about one-off success is that most keeps making the same pattern of the initial song that brought them that success. In her case her group got national spotlight on them after they kicked out an alleged bully. Tomboy in the beginning also had people calling into question her songwriting skills, and then she played it off again in Nxde doing the exact thing but doing it a third time is usually the breaking point for most. She's not doing anything new and she keeps trying the tried and true formula that in the beginning was only possible because of scandal. Maybe she will see that this time it no longer works and needs to go back to making coherent songs before they became a 5 member girl group.

  • QC might end up doing well. The charts are stacked right now with IVE, LSFM, AESPA, and G-IDLE all having recent comebacks.

It's a full house, and IVE is holding on strong. I'm not sure if it will overtake IVE, LSFM, and AESPA, but I think the fact it's in the top 5 anyway says a lot about G-IDLE's power. Had they come back sooner or a bit later, QC probably would have hit #1 or the top 3 by now.

That being said, I have never been a fan of G-IDLE's music, and I think Hann is the only song of theirs I have semi liked. Tomboy was okay for me, but Queencard is horrible in my opinion. So is Allergy. The lyrics are so cringey that it honestly makes me think I'm listening to slightly more explicit Kids Bop.

"My boob and booty is hot" "I'm twerkin' on the runway" "Look so cool, look so sexy like Kim Kardashian (Uh)"...

Those are the most vapid lyrics I think I have ever heard in a KPOP song. Like, the fact that they sang that unironically? It's so bad. It sounds like something a boomer would write to appeal to gen-Z rather than something written by a 20 something year old woman.

I respect Soyeon as a producer, and I think she has a great vision for G-IDLE as a whole. But as a lyricist, she fucking sucks, and I can't listen to her songs as a native English speaker.

  • QC is a great success, but I’m talking about Soyeon’s personal ambition to reach #1

  • The lyrics are indeed abhorrent, and i think Idle fans are living in copium and denial if they think the cringiness of the English lyrics was deliberately done by Soyeon as some unknown form of "satire" lol. Yes, SY is obviously sending a message with the songs about what young girls go through growing up in this image and SM obsessed world...but i dont think for a second she's consciously using cringey English lyrics to make fun of her own bad English skills, that would require a level of English proficiency that SY has never shown, to be able to understand what cringy English is and how to use it deliberately to make a point.

However both Allergy and QC are actually pretty good songs, especially Allergy, they're better than Tomboy tbh. 7 for QC, and 8 for Allergy, with better lyrics they might be 8s and 9s respectively.

  • she has no rap roots she SUCKS.

She could go hard but she didnt want to for the sake of her members

it's TIK TOK and it's INSTAGRAM and it's SINNING that has caused the regression in her rapping, she can't do that no more, she all about fame, they all struggling, no singers, no dancers, no rappers, just bad for them. this why we gots to ban tiktok, we gots to ban IT and stop the sinning, stop it.

  • There's some genuinely baffling and idiotic statements here.

Like even ignoring that Queencard is in the top 5 in every chart, thus doing better than every song I-dle has had before Tomboy.

  • Yes humbled by being number 5 with all the competition that there is currently i don't think each time an artist aimes for number 1 she already got her number 1 multiple times now so she's releasing songs that she likes without putting charts as priority idle fandom grew immensely selling one million copies of their album in the first day is only a dream that they problem thought they will never achieve but here they are with all this numbers so being number 5 is ok at the moment
