Like 3rd gen. They gave third gen from 2012 to 2017, 5 years. So it’s kinda logical 4th gen is 2018-2023, also 5 years.
For me, 3rd gen should be 2012-2022, around 10 years like the previous gen. But 4th gen were so excited to claim their fave is first from 4th gen to achieve something..

idk about the transition of 2nd gen to 3rd gen...
and I've seen many users said that a new gen start when the big 3 companies each debuting their new group.
But then, now it's big 4 and hybe is debuting a new group like Apple releasing new iPhone...So, I guess it will not work that way anymore...
And what I notice from the 3rd gen and the 4th gen is, 3rd gen idols felt that there are generation gap between them and newer idols...Those 3rd gen idols feels like they've become old. They are the unnies/hyungs now.
so maybe... 5th gen will be felt when the 2010 borns are debuting? -

2nd Gen is 2005 - 2011
2012 started 3rd gen. its iffy with 2nd gen as some say it ended December 2018 however ateez debuted October 2018 and widely known as 4th gen.
Some predict 4th gen should last til 2025. At this point fuck this confusing shit it hurts my brain.
