Wow this is huge Akb as a brand had a huge influence in the idol industry, so to see this brand no longer existing is really sad.
The fact that everyone wants to have their own kpop group is really boring, like what's the use of having multiple groups singing the same and having the same concept? Man capitalism is shit 
So Japan is downsizing to be more like Korean groups meanwhile Korean groups are expanding to be more like Japan's 48 groups 
i think people are jumping the gun with the Kpop comparisons, for starters there are tons of different group systems in both J-pop and K-pop and just because you are from one or the other it doesn't mean you are forced to pick one in particular, second this definitely wasn't decided on a whim, AKB are a billion dollar brand so there must some intensive market research behind this decision
personally i feel i would be more interested in AKB48 if they were to have a permanent line up
