Did Jennie make a mistake acting in The Idol instead of a Kdrama?

  • There’s backlash from the public like here, the director is known to be problematic, the show is problematic, why didn’t she make an acting debut in a Kdrama like other idols instead of this? Korea may have an issue with this too

  • I dont think so. Hbo is Hbo regardless of how shitty the show might be. It still is bigger exposure and better experience than a kdrama. Either option would be fine but if it The Idol flops it will be considered the show's fault. If the kdrama she starred flopped ppl would consider it her fault.

  • I just watched the trailer, and honestly, it just looked like a man sat down in the writing room and shat out one long sex fantasy of what he imagines of a female pop singer. The whole thing was honestly uncomfortable to watch. If there was supposed to be a message or a story anywhere in that trailer it failed to stick out.

But for Jennie? Would this be a mistake? Well, not really. If this show does get the kind of audience and hype it's aiming for like Euphoria, then Jennie will still benefit from the exposure even if the show is shit. As as for Korea? Well, I doubt she really cares all that much about their opinions. She's already obtained all that she can domestically, her new goals a re to break out into the west. And, so long as she doesn't do any nude scenes, the only thing Koreas can say is that she's acting in a trashy drama.

  • No but she might have thought that this will blow up just like euphoria. And since she has less screentime, it'll be take less investment. But I do think she'll be dragged alot cus there's not even one actor in the show and plot is crap just like euphoria.

  • Not really...

It will either have positive impact on Jennie if the show become a hit or it will do nothing if it is a flop.

It is basically pop star version of Euphoria.

note: if army is talking about it then at least the show already have some kind of hype that they have a need to attack it.

  • Originally her character and script was much different before she signed the contract, it is almost like the Weeknd did a bait and switch on all the women who signed on originally for an empowering show about women in the industry. Changing it after everyone signed on to a really sick fantasy of his.

Wasn’t her character written as bisexual?

  • if Jennie can't act or act amateur like Jisoo
I rather Jennie being extra or special appearance in the Idol

unless Jennie get supporting cast route first or even 2nd lead
rather than goes straight as a leading role

I edit the Jisoo to Jennie 🤦‍♂️
    sorry for the typo

  • abel and lily rose depp have not impressed me with these teasers. jennie not being featured a lot on this trailer even though she appeared a lot on the teaser is not a good sign about how many lines she got. if they had something substantial out of her they would've included her more because 1. blinks 2. right after coachella?
