Some say they ain’t success stans…

I like and love when my faves achieve big but I won't drop them bc they're less successful
-
The true fans are there when their faves are flopping
but what if my favs never flop? lol
-
I wish my faves were more successful so that I can be a success stan

The true fans are there when their faves are flopping
What about the ones that just pretend to be fans?
-
For sure it's funny when fans talk about music as would shareholders and corporate guys in suits do: sales numbers, brand value, CF deals, etc.
-
well maybe?
doesn't the fans buying the albums streaming the songs on melon or yt or spotify count as fans?

I understand, it is very easy to be a fan in times of success, several groups lose stans in the first failure
-
All fans like to see their faves achieve success and some people like charts and numbers more than others. As long as they don't abandon their "faves" because they didn't do as well as desired or expected, is it really fair to label them "success" stans just for that?
Yeah it’s fair to call them success stans if all they talk about is their faves success, even so much that it seems like they see their faves achievement as their own.

I yeah, I saw people dropping my faves because they didn’t achieved a PAK despite still charting well lol.
-
I only care about my success but I don't have anything
-
The true fans are there when their faves are flopping
Well according to others my faves are always flopping, I’m a true fan
-
I don't have to be a success stan coz my faves are already successful lol. Personally, I'd rather focus on the music and artists than numbers that makes my head hurts
Great

all those charts & statistics make my head hurts actually
if i like their music & they're happy at what they are doing no problem for me
but i hope they get the success they deserve
I swear everyday another charts becomes relevant and I never heard of it, but apparently if you ain’t on it, it means you flopped. And other charts and statistics that were always seen important suddenly aren’t.
I can’t follow anymore so now o just congratulate my faves no matter where they chart

99% of kpop are success stans even if they say they aren't.

Even though I understandably want my faves to be successful, I don't wish for them to be #1 worlwide. I think there's a point when more success doesn't mean more happiness. I just wish for them to be successful enough to keep doing what they want to do, with minimal pressure, and earn enough money to be safe financially. I wish for them to be slightly above the pack with a margin for improvement. No need to be viewed as litteral gods/godesses by millions of rabid fans and as a golden goose by greedy companies.

I'm on the opposite spectrum where my ults are so successful that any time I discuss their achievements I'm a success stan
It's not my fault BTS are legends

Are there people who only do that? Focus on just success and never mention any other things like artistry, musical content, performances? Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention.
-
Isnt this kind of mean to your fellow blinks?
-

Oh I think there is a difference between wanting your faves to be successful and trying to help them to achieve certain goals and being obsessed about their success to the point that it’s all you care about.
We all love success that’s true, but I think there there is a clear difference between normal fans and success stans. At least for me.

There is a reason the term success stans exist tho.

Isn't that too much of a generalization? Even if we go by the definition of everyone who's discussing charts is a success stan
-

Mean ? All the big fandoms have a huge portion of success stans so yeah even the fandoms I belong in.
-
This is what I mean when I’m talking about a success stan.

I think it's hard to make that distinction because you can't know for sure.
I also think that smaller fandom think like that about bigger fandom when everyone streams hard, bulk buys and does wherever they can to help their faves but because the results are not obvious, they can hide behind that moral superiority that they don't care.

My biases are already successful but I’m not obsessed by it.
-
Interesting point

-
Isnt the peak level of success stan making up achievements? As in not being satisfied with the actual official charts, awards and acknowledgements and needing to literally invent things? Or trying to find very very specific ones such as "the first song by a red haired person from a girl group released in 2021 at 5 AM"?
Or that is more like wannabe success stans?
-
i’ve lucky bc my faves always flop
Please, it hurts
