This is kind of hard to explain but imagine if TWICE had released their music backward. This means that "Set Me Free" would have been their debut song and "Like Ooh-Ahh" would have been their most recent song. It's basically going back in time sort of. Would you still stan them? Tbh, I sort of would but I wouldn't be a very big fan because I feel like their music has improved so much and it would feel like they were getting worse if this happened.

They wouldn't be where they are if that was the case.
Regarding the overall concept change, which I believe is where you're coming from, I always expected them to change the cute concept, that's not the issue in itself. It is the direction that they chose to go that I hate. I can't fucking stand retro. TTT, Scientist, Can't Stop Me, I can't fucking stand it.
I was wishing they'd go more towards Miss A route, dark concept but calm songs. Cry For Me should've been the footprint, not an afterthought. Overall Twice's concept change was as much of a disasterous incoherent mess as Gfriend's was.

Hmmm I don't know tbh.
Retro has sort of been played out, which has affected my enjoyment of SMF.
Also, back in 2015, I was relatively new to checking out groups outside of Big Bang and BAP. Girl groups in particular were not my jam until Twice and Red Velvet showed me the way in 2016. So, I have no idea what I would have thought of Twice's new song at that time because I was liking just about anything that was decent lol.
I know I still would have liked TTT though, so if SMF didn't get me, TTT would have. So maybe.

LOA sounds unique, so I'd be more interested, while SMF is typical generic 'mature'/retro sound

Them devolving into a cutesy concept meant for children would be too weird to watch. They would also lose whatever international following they managed to acquire by switching to a more basic, kid-friendly sound.
I don't know why people complain about their songs being "retro" when basically all of modern Kpop is just copying tried & true western music trends. It's all "retro" to some degree.

if they debut w a bad song or song I didn't like
even at their prime w their visual
(or w 3 years of bad song release)
I will never stan them at the time of their debut
and possibly too late to stan them hard
if they release all of their hit at their peak
timing is everything
my formula to stan an artist is
a visual and good song -
Yes, I will still stan them because they would still be the crackheads that they are...

Just like Fd said, for me it was Sana giving a roll to JYP and saying sorry because it's not organic.
You cannot make that up, no matter how much you think of it.
8 years later she's still the same crackhead alongside all her girls.
