What's The Obsession With Female Kpop Fans Wanting Male Idols To Be Gay???

  • No disrespect at all.

But I see it a ton on Twitter mostly.

I see it with 90% of ARMYs, calling the BTS members gay, saying how they gonna marry each other and how they like kissing and laying up together.......

Not just them, but MOAs with TXT too, which granted they do some sus stuff on camera I admit, but I thought we knew by now, that it doesn't translate to off camera and who they actually dating in real life.

Im sure there's other fanbases who's obsessed with the homosexual thing too, but im more into the BTS and TXT fandom, so I see it everyday and more often, that's why I mentioned only them.

And its easy to say "well u don't know xyz preference or who they date in real life", and your right, but you also making assumptions by assuming he's a gay person.

AGAIN IM NOT TRYNA BE RUDE, but I see it as a crazy way to cope with- that their dating women in real life........its getting a little weird with the fantasies...... :pepe-back-away:

  • i mean, isn’t 95% of kpop fandom conversations fantasies lol. People claim to know kpop idols personality etc, when they literally work a restrictive music industries (in terms of cancellations). and have to watch what they do or say on camera

Also i’m a male fan, and i want more openly gay idols too so :pepe-shrug:

Edit: also you can’t be ok with kpop groups use bromance and fan service to sell albums, then get upset when fans do it too lol.

No dont get me wrong, i have no issues with the fan service stuff, and a idol being gay or not.

The thing I find weird is how fans of the idol or group will try to push that on them, and make that their personality trait, as if that's them in real life.

Its like if you at work, and you playfully flirted with your co-workers, but then other people who observed you starting pushing the gay thing on you as if that's what you are, even though they don't know you or you have a whole girlfriend.

It would start to get weird, and awkward real quick.

  • 1. Fetish

    2. Delusion about their faves having no relationship with women

    3. Some idols really are gay since gay people exist everywhere lol its just not our business

    Yeah you right.

    I just hate the projection.

Like almost as if they tryna force this "gay agenda" on them or something....just cuz they can't see or cope with them possibly having a girlfriend or finding women attractive.

  • SOME kpop fans...

there are dodgy creepy fans in every fandom kpop or otherwise...

remember the silent majority is often drowned out by the vocal minority

  • I also think it's to cope most of the time. And for some it's more of just a sexual fantasy.

I remember it with One Direction too, so when they had gfs, fans harassed the them and came up with elaborate delusions about them being paid cover ups to hide the "real" relationships between members. It even was to the point where Louis (?) said that the constant over-analysing of his friendship with Harry genuinely made it awkward and hurt their friendship.

Obsessing over celebrities' dating lives' in general is unhealthy. And many kpop fans love to do that

  • Because most fans are mentally ill🤡 they want to push their own ideals world view and personalities onto real life people who are total strangers to them. They zero obligation to fans other than delivering music. Besides that they owe you NOTHING! I'm also a man and a Korean. Most of these fans are perverting oart of our culture that's rather innocent. Most "fan service" is normal platonic friendship. Skinship is a big part of Korean life. It's quite common to see people of the same gender hold hands hug cuddle etc. Some of it for kpop is over exaggerated like all the kissing lol. But in some groups it isn't as these kids grew up knowing only each other so they are instinctively closer

Example seventeen all the skinship you see with them especially when they were kids in pledis studios is normal that wasn't exaggerated nobody told them to act this way. It's rather annoying to see international fans being ignorant about our culture and trying to turn evey interaction into something sexual= xyz is gay or fucking. When in reality in our culture sex and relationships are totally separate things here it's one reason many people can be comfortable with skinship even some more intimate levels of it without it being awkward as the proper boundaries have already been set for what's ok between us and what's ok between lovers.

remember the silent majority is often drowned out by the vocal minority

At some point it makes the whole majority seem complicit. All the awkward shipping including sending shit to the idols regardless if they are uncomfortable or even made statements about it. The silent majority say nothing about it and people continue on as if this is normal and ok.

Example BTS all the shipping etc nobody says anything. But if one person says hey i do X better than BTS suddenly the silence is broken and the majority have something to say even bullying people etc when the other party didn't say anything negative. This behavior happens with fans of every group. But when shipping etc causes harm etc nobody says a thing and acts like it's normal and ok even if the idol said something quite a few have including taehyung and Jungkook also Soobin and Taehyun. Yet the silent majority aren't saying anything to defend the idols over that stuff? Crazy how that works.

  • A very select few women, straight or not (mostly straight though, let's be real), fetishize gay men all the time. I am not psychologist, but I looked into some studies about this and read that it's because they view gay men and mlm relationships as non-threatening to them. Straight men can be scary to women, so they look for an outlet where they can explore their desires without the fear of being overpowered or taken advantage of (ex. kpop, anime, mange, manhwa, etc. etc.) However, this does not justify the sexualization and objectification of gay men that goes on in these spaces. Most mlm content is now catered towards the female gaze, it's over romanticized, and straight women take up majority of these fandoms. Especially NSFW content, oh it's BAD in that space of the internet.

I'd say that the silence of the majority is because the majority just doesn't care or bother with such nonsense...

like for example I'm a fan of GG and one of them is BP - do I know certain blinks are toxic as F of course - but I enjoy my favs in peace and quite and don't need to attack nor defend any fandom/group/individual...but that's just me I guess

the question then becomes do the "majority" or rather any fan within the fandom have an obligation to call out those bad apples each and every time?

Likely so. Because it's hypocritical of us as fans to have selective outrage for bs stuff.

Like example someone saying omg bp sux listen to twice. Yet we quiet about fanfics of them ys know it's like one is more serious than the other and has the potential to harm the other is just some fools opinion on music They like
