It wasn’t just gambling and embezzlement, multiple reputable sources like CNN, BBC, Reuters etc have all written that he was found guilty of prostitution rings (pimping women to seal business deals), fraud, distributing videos of women being raped etc. There was a couple threads posted today of summaries what his charges were that were disclosed after his very recent release.

He was sleezy and greedy for money, but he didn't drug and rape anyone. Allegedly that is what happened at the club that he owned, but I do not know the details whether his staff did it or it was patrons in the club.
