Does kpop makes you more judgmental toward real life people?

Not really, no.

I recognise they are celebrities, that through various filters of privilege are able to generally look better than the general public. Like any other celebrity.

But kind of sideways related, going on holidays to South Korea and Japan and seeing how people present themselves in public and behave in public makes me MUCH more judgemental towards Australians when I get back home. Every. Single. Time.

People conduct themselves alot more mannerly and get in your way much less in crowded spaces compare to where I live

Australians act really loud, borish and uncouth in public and take much less pride in their appearance. I don't mean everyone in Japan/SK is running around in brand name cloths and perfect make up, but compared to how Aussies present themselves... chalk and cheese. I actually feel uncomfortable in public in Aus for a few weeks each time.

Sorta but not really the way the you’re describing. Wouldn’t say it’s made me judge other people but sometimes I notice things about them that I otherwise wouldn’t. And I can be a bit harsher on my own appearance.

Like sometimes I look at people, usually east asians but can be others as well, and have a realisation that they would be considered prettier in Korea than they are here. That the timid, baby-faced girl that’s considered a little plain here would be classically pretty in Korea etc.

Or the opposite. I had a classmate from Thailand and first time I saw her I thought she was really pretty, even beautiful. Once I became friends with her I realised she didn’t see herself that way. She paid no attention to her looks, wearing plain clothes, no makeup, practical hairstyles and got the most unflattering crooked glasses in our second year. In her family she was considered the smart and capable sibling while her younger sister, who fit the east asian beauty standard better, got to be pretty and social. Now her sister was pretty but thing is if my friend had payed as much attention to her looks as her younger sister did she would have been considered equally pretty in my country (they visited relatives in Thailand every year so the standard there clearly affected them). I know of at least two guys who had a crush on her. One which she accidentally harshly rejected because she didn’t realise he was asking her out.

For myself I recently gained weight. I did so intentionally. I’ve always been very skinny, too skinny for it to be considered attractive in my country, so one and half year ago I decided to gain weight. I love my new weight and everyone says I look nicer and healthier. But I’m now too “fat” to be a kpop star. So seeing how skinny kpop idols are and how pretty they look sometimes makes me wanna lose the weight again. Plus my hair looks like shit compared to idols

No, as I tend not to judge. I take people for what they are.

Kpop opened my eyes a bit about Korean culture, actually helped me reconnect.

But holy hell, the Kpop fan culture is something i was definitely not prepared for. I dont judge real life people any different but i sure do see Kpop fans and maybe this entire TW generation in a whole new light.

Nope, we all the same, we all gonna get old and die alone, nobody is different we are all heading the same direction and it is all inherently pointless.

I've never been a judgmental person, and I usually find all kinds of people beautiful, unless they behave like awful people.

And I don't tend to observe too much other people to be honest. I've got some friends that seem to always be in the need to make comments about other people and I find it quite uncomfortable.

Im going to korea soon, if the all the girls there dont look like idols im suing the sk government.
