Some interesting things in this Chosun article. I'll bullet point the main points of interest.

    1. Idol Lab was the largest Domestic Online Media Outlet for Kpop (1.32 million users)
    2. According to fans there was a lot of negative press on rival groups. (Article lists Le Sserafim, Itzy, New Jeans and Nmixx) however the only ones that can be substantiated are Le Sserafim and Itzy
    3. Idol Lab was previously known to be owned by a private citizen by Reporters.
    4. Chosun discovered that Kakao purchased Idol Lab in secret from the private Citizen 2-3 years ago.
    5. Chosun also discovered that the Page was being managed by Kakao's Music Marketing Team
    6. Industry insiders say that this is a side effect of Kakao's monopoly expansion. Kakao in the last several years has acquired several companies in various entertainment industries. In spite of this, Kakao has found that their Music Sector is significantly lagging behind their Web Novel and Webtoon sectors and that the intentional bad press for competition is a result of trying to get the sector up to parity.

  • Oh man this is gonna rile up the whole kakao privilege debate again between factions on this forum lol :pepe-cringe:

Anyway this is pathetic and unethical and embarrassing on kakao’s part. I like ive’s music but some of their aggressive stans here constantly attacking and/or passive aggressively shading other rival groups to ive and living in a delulu bubble about starship’s supposedly measly power are gonna be in for a reality check

  • disgusting the fact that they mainly target all the other top 4th gen GG who are rival of Ive is very disguting most of their post were against Aespa, itzy, NJ and lesserafim

a healthy competition would be better than targeting your opponent

especially when they already receive enough hate from unknow people on internet, they don't need to have a powerful company commenting trashy comments about them

    The victimization I’m laughing.

  • The victimization I’m laughing.

victimisation of what?? speaking facts? do you or do you not deny there’s literally evidence right here about kakao’s foul play and abuse of power? what does kakao not being a brand as well known as sm or yg to kpop stans have any relevance to the fact they have the resource to do this and HAVE resorted to dirty tactics? you do know kakao is bigger in capital than other entertainment companies, they just don’t focus solely on music entertainment like some others, right?

are you talking about yourself when talking about victimisation or :whatb:

Edited once, last by Whi ().

  • btw sassily i’m not sure if you’re agreeing or disagreeing with me bc your comment suggests you agree but the read reaction you gave my post is usually used by other people when they disagree with a post so now i’m confused lol :sweatr:

I don't want people to blame IVE for Kakao's actions. Do they seriously think the girls knew or had any say in this?

  • Kakao acting just like a BIG 3 company. I am not surprised. IVE definately has big 3 privilege. Dives also behave a lot like Big 4 fandoms, so all the pick me kpop fans should realize they picked the wrong horse.
