Why is Teddy the best producer for female soloists?

  • Blackpink girls, Somi, Sunmi's biggest hit, one of Leehi's biggest hits, and they only need to comeback once a year, at most. The rest of the time they make $$$ as part-time influencers. Teddy is clearly the producer dominating the kpop female soloist market. Yet he continuously annoys fans with his slow output. What's his secret? Do the fans like the abuse?

  • That is ignoring his immense success as the producer for Bigbang or BB solos or Se7en.

No GG or female solos produced by him has achieved what BB achieved in their peak years, in Korea. M.A.D.E is sample enough,

I doubt if any other case can beat the dominance BB had in Korea in 2015.

But that is not your grouse, is it? Maybe after 2 decades of fantastic success, he does not feel the need to rush with things and takes it slowly.

Might suck for the fans, but it is what it is.

  • Dont forget Lee Hi's best song, The Rose. Shocked to find out that was a Teddy song as well, it was a #1 hit for her.

Love the song. No idea Teddy was the writer.

Boy group generally do much better than female soloists, so no surprise there.

That's why YG is desperate for another big boy group.

    Do better in what?

    Physical album sales, then yes.

If you are talking top tier, the topmost in Korea is occupied by a female soloist - IU.

If you are talking averages, even then non-groups actually are dominant on the charts, not groups.

And GGs do better digitally than BGs.

  • I'm talking about international performance of female solo idols vs. male groups. The male groups tend to make way more money.

For female idols who aren't in a group there's IU, Taeyeon, Somi, Leehi (if she counts), Yena... the other Izone solo girls are doing OK... who else?

BGs have BTS... that is all that's needed. Ignoring them there is still NCT, Stray Kids, TXT, Enhyphen, Treasure etc. They all bring in more money then all the soloists except IU. There's a reason that companies rarely debut idol soloists.

That's why I asked are you considering only the top tier or average?

    And then Korea vs international.

If you consider only the top tier, they are outliers be it IU in Korea-digitals or BTS internationally, so will give a skewed picture.

Agencies don't debut soloist with no pre-existing fame, because chances of viral success is low and agency can control brand image better with groups.
