WHY DO YOU THINK NMIXX IS NOT WORKING AS TWICE OR ITZY?

JYP is great at doing Girls Groups. But we are not listening or reading much on the site about them. If a group is important, we all know it , it is drag or discussed to no end. There is thread after thread of support or hate (main or anons).

Today i was listening to one of their songs and i am not sure if i liked it or it annoyed me. I was kind in the middle, the members look fine, but none of them gave me a tingling vibe - like "i would love to stan her"

IS IT THE MUSIC?

IS IT THE COMPANY NOT GIVING THEM ENOUGH PROMO?

IS IT THE LACK OF SOME TALENT ON THE MEMBERS?

IS IT LUCK AND THE OVERSATURATED MARKET?

i was thinking on doing it on anons, but then i think we can have a nice conversation without being insulting. Or maybe saying why you like them and the Company is lacking

Primarily music. O.O is the most hated debut I've seen.

But also the oversaturated market. Normally only one or two bigger girl groups debut a year, but this year there are tons of popular groups. If Nmixx had debuted last year all attention would've been on them despite their awful debut and they'd be an obvious ROTY candidate. Now there's so many groups to choose from so if one under-delivers it's easy for fans to jump to a new one.

I don't follow them, so I don't know if they are ever invited to variety shows. Has JYP tried to promote them in variety shows?

depends on what song you were listening to...

o.o was a very divisive song and the only other original song of theirs is tank which is much better received (at least on AKP)

the girls seem nice and the members (especially lily) have a decent voice

remember they are just rookies that debuted almost 6 months ago so give it time...

and if the group doesn't interesting you no biggie - there's nothing wrong with not liking a group

well then tank was much much better than o.o (at least for me) so I'm glad you liked it...

yeap they have some great vocals...

give it time my friend (or give o.o a listen and find out why a lot of people didn't like it much lol)

and thus if my memory serves correctly they sold a lot of albums correct? like 300K+

and given that they were a JYP group at least o.o was listened and given a chance whereas for many other groups they wouldn't even have bothered to give it a listen in the first place

I will admit though I wasn't around for any other JYP GG debut lol (only got into kpop when YT recommended me D4 right before KTL dropped) so again going off what I've heard that LOA from Twice was also not as well received initially

Well the music clearly contributes, especially after your seniors' were higly praised

The promo is lacking but not that much

And talentless members don't really influence anything so even if they were, that prob wouldn't be the reason

1. New division (SQU4D) set up specifically to manage NMIXX. So, probably less experienced and younger staff on hand in that new division, than in the other divisions. On the one hand, it's good news for the company backline staff, because it means the company is permitting them to try out new things, and there's a promotional pathway for the ambitious young guns. Which addresses a long-term complaint that staff had initially in the mid-2010s that upper management was stifling the ideas of the younger staff. Now they get to try out their new ideas for how to manage artists, and the upper management has given them the cream of the crop of trainees to debut with. So the first ideas at going off the standard path didn't turn out too well, but the company seems to be still supportive of their new division. Fumbling around a bit and making mistakes is expected of a rookie new division management. They'll get more experienced with time.

(Maybe learn not to put advertising messages into the debut song of your artist, no matter how much Coke Zero pays you. Artistic integrity is more important than commercial tie-ups. NiziU's string of advertisement-tied title track hits is a miraculous exception, rather than a general principle to follow.)
