SM groups digital is never a linear line bc they never stick to the same sound.

But that's what keeps them interesting and people still check them out 10 years down the line

It is difficult to say what if anything this song underperforming means. Red Velvet had similar underperformers throughout their career for instance and then came back with big hits. It does undeniably kill their momentum going into their next comeback though as they can't really claim to be this huge force of nature taking over the industry. SM came into that comeback thinking they could try to skip music shows and promote in the west like Blackpink or BTS and found out the hard way that they just aren't there yet and had to scramble to ensure the song didn't outright flop.
