There are many opinions about what the top groups are. However, the only ones we’ve come across that appear to have an objective basis are those created by the Korean Business Research Institute (KBRI). These rankings are determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community indexes of various girl groups. The KBRI statistics are released monthly. Our analysis provides a broader and more balanced view by combining the monthly rankings into annual averages.
This chart shows how the ranks of the current top 20 girl groups have changed in the near term. The first column shows the difference in rank between the current month and the previous month. The next column shows the difference in rank between the current month and a half year ago. The popularity of the top 10 groups is remarkably stable. The lower the rank, the more variable the rank distribution becomes. The KBRI rankings are based on social media metrics only. To see an analysis of sales you should use the Gaon Music Charts.

LABOUM has shown the largest increase moving up 7 positions since half year ago on the strength of its new hit "Kiss Kiss". aespa continues its climb to the top with the release of two new hits "Dreams Come True" and "Savage." fromis_9 has moved up 3 positions since half year ago on the popularity of their recently released fourth mini album “Midnight Guest.” On the other hand, ITZY, (G)I-DLE and MAMAMOO have shown the largest decrease in popularity since half year ago. Top Winners/Losers is determined by adding the rank difference since last month and since half year ago. For example, the net change for TWICE is -1 + -1 = -2.
