I do think in a way u r right about aespa. They are indeed the closest but at the same time they couldn't score a hit in a year every 4th gen gg is doing well in korea. SM fumbled this comeback badly for them.

Well, here is a funny thing.

I've watched a video that randomly recommended by youtube. It's a video where.. idk looks like IVE in a some kind of event or something. One thing that I knew is it was still on their Eleven era, like they're still on their early weeks of promotion. There are also some audience and there are these questions where one of the randomly selected audience got asked "who are their fav gg?"

And he answered "aespa".

Yeah, looks like aespa is really the most popular group in 2021.

Man i remember listening to illusion for days after its release, while for girls I couldn’t stomach more than a couple of times lol. Now weeks later, i listened to both songs again to see how they hold up after a breathing period, and illusion is still so fresh and catchy with its sleek and futuristic sound while girls is just one exhausting and unappealing mess to listen to, and I haven’t even listened to it more than 5 times in total

they are still a new trendy girl group, Love Dive is huge and after like is benefitting from it too. It's common the hype is on the roof after a big hit.

Give them 2 years at least to see if they'll be consistent and popular

I think they are popular. Their constant growth in physical, charting (not like they can go more than #1 kkkk), streams and views is solidifying them as a popular group. Unless they release a super bad song (a little difficult when their tt for now is great) i don't see them dropping and even if they stay "stagnant", with these numbers they still are in the top.

But i could be wrong, but for now they are one of the most popular groups.

If they don't have a comeback for 10-12 months and then can put up these numbers again, then there will be no doubt that they are for real.

I personally already think they are for real.

They are popular. Everyone knows their songs in SK and they keep getting better numbers. Their music is also top notch. The core problem is the Wonyoung focus in like everything, but Yujin’s existence and their big sales shows that IVE isn’t a Miss A. Every girl will get their own fandom that will be the size of groups.
