How much of a song can be in english for it to still be considered a korean song?
I’m seeing a lot Pink Venom vs Dynamite posts. Dynamite claimed most achievements before PV but PV was the first korean song to do so etc.
Pink Venom has more english in it than korean. The whole chorus, 2nd verse and outro is in english. First verse and bridge are like 50% english. Only part that has more korean than english is Jisoo and Rosè’s pre-chorus and that still has a couple of english lines sprinkled in.
So where’s the line? How much english can there be in a kpop song for it to still be considered a korean song?
If a Spanish artist released a song with 65% english and 35% spanish wouldn’t it be considered an english song? Or at least something in between.
This thread isn’t only about BP, they’re just the most relevant right now. Feel free to mention other groups. It’s pretty common for kpop songs to have more english than korean in them (Chungha, my ult, has multiple songs like that).
