In the sense that there are multiple groups thriving and not just a select few. In 2nd gen you had groups from smaller companies thriving like T-ARA, 4minute, AOA, After School, groups from bigger companies like SNSD, 2NE1, f(x), groups like Apink and KARA thriving too, etc, etc. You really didn't have that in 3rd gen where the top girl groups for the entire generation were just groups from the top3 companies with the occasional MMM/Gfriend hit. Like it was TWICE/BP >>> RV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the rest.
This time these groups are more or less in the same playing field and there's not really a group completely DOMINATING everything (aespa or IVE would be the closest ig?)
No group is going to "replace" anyone so idk why some continue to push that narrative ...there's going to be a lane for everyone I think. idk just putting random thoughts out there
