All members of Monsta X except for Changkyun have renewed their contracts with Starship

Kind of saddened that they couldn't work things out when negotiating, but I'm happy they will still be together as a group and will support them all. I'm looking forward to Changkyhun's future endeavors for sure

This makes me a little sad but I wish him the best in his future endeavors.

He could take part in groups main activity and sign with a different agency for solo activities.

Just to add to what Lulu_Key and Pinky_Peachy said: this isn't totally unheard of. Groups like Mamamoo and Brown Eyed Girls have members signed to different agencies for solo activities. So it can be done, it's just a matter of how well everyone plays together at this point.

It's similar with T.O.P and BIGBANG.

When people see "ends exclusive contract" they ignore the "exclusive" part.

He'll have a contract with the label obviously, because he'll need to get paid for group work. But now all of his other endeavors won't be managed by the label.

I don't think a lot of people realize that these Kpop and entertainment labels in Korea are more than music labels. They're management companies too. They manage all works. They negotiate deals, endorsements and other things. For example if and idol also acts in movies or TV shows, the label would negotiate and manage that.

Very different from the US. For example, Interscope has nothing to do with Lady Gaga's acting career or product lines. On Korea, 1 entertainment label would manage all that.

It will all depend on the fandom reaction. If they stay positive, it can work out.

Oh for sure. I don't want Changkhyun to force himself to stay if Starship wasn't offering a good deal. I trust him to know what's best for himself

Monsta X members have an incredibly close bond... I am hoping that will be a strength for them and they will continue to shine as a group.
