For sure, and for BP fans it was Twice whom they were obsessed with (and SNSD) they were always saying how BP was greater than Twice even before the debut, for 2 years they kept telling themselves that, then boom, it happened, BP became bigger than Twice.
As you say BP replaced Twice on being the group that all new fans want to compare their faves with.
But the level I am seeing from NJ fans seems to be much higher than normal, almost as big as when BP debuted.
3rd gen was KPOP's breakthrough to the west.
It will be hard to top the originators. Not impossible, but we might not see it happen this gen. BP & BTS set the bar very high in terms of physicals as well as their relevance outside Korea. Aespa has the physicals, but lacks in the 2nd part. So, we can only wait and see.
I think eventually we will see a group reach there.
