NewJeans concept was supposed to be for aespa/white fox?

I agree with this. I think NewJeans's MVs and songs has old school feel. I was expecting Min Heejin's GG to be similar to more modern SM GG like F(x) or RV.

I think MHJ wanted to do this concept for a long time but couldn’t do it

MhJ was never involved with music so songs that made years ago means nothing. I am not sure what the concept is, it seems casual and natural etc… nothing that can be gate kept for a new SM gg. Speaking of sm ngg. There’s a difference between smngg and aespa. Just because SM had trainees and art directors in the company doesn’t mean it was what aespa was supposed to be. I wish ppl leave aespa out of these discussions. Reminds me of every time someone declare they were about to be SNSD member.

This was the concept I was expecting for SM Rookie girls at the time for sure. SM obviously scrapped it, which is why most of the SM Rookie girls didn't make it and probably why Heejin left SM as well.

I have no idea about that stuff, i just know that i much prefer this concept to aespa’s for what it’s worth

Meh, if New Jeans debuted under SM they'd have a lot more people dragging it, that's for sure.

you know what, i’m a 2nd gen kpop stan from the days of mirotic and sorry sorry and gee and i’m loving this concept for newjeans so you might be onto sth there it’s kinda funny that i used to like so many sm groups until sm changed their art and music direction, and now i’m eating up a group produced by an ex sm art director from that era lol

concept might be something she's been wanting to do for a very long time but isn't lee sooman the one who decided the main concept? she just had to stick by

as for the music, im seeing so many posts about this being potential aespa music and im just here to clarify that it's not! she was never involved in sms musical direction. if u guys have read her interview from a few months ago, she says that sometimes she struggled working for songs she personally didn't connect to. but new jeans music is something she handpicked herself ever since she left sm

SM probably planned other group separate of aespa. few years ago, there were so many rumors about SM planning to debut new SNSD type gg there just had to be some true about it...

then nothing happened and slowly SM let go of so many popular trainees, isnt it sus?

they probably had plans for both white fox and aespa at the same time, with aespa debuting later

but the white fox was scrapped for whatever reasons

I think the White Fox theory is quite plausible. Some of the ex-rookies would probably have fit in quite will to the New Jeans concept compared to Aespa. Lami, Yiyang spring to mind.

Yeah, but I guess there must be a reason why. IMO the members of Aespa stand out a lot more than those that were in SM rookies. Then again, we also never really got the chance to see them debut. Perhaps one or more will turn up in a yet to debut group.

aespa members were picked really well, they suit the concept and each one of them stands out. they also look good together. it's hard to say if any of those sm rookies would fit there too, since styling plays huge part too ig?

but it just seems to me like a lot of effort and resources were waisted to train and promote those trainees when in the end none of them debuted

that's why i think maybe they had plans to debut another gg besides aespa but for some reason didnt. whether it has anything to do with min heejin departure i really don't know... it's all just speculations

Expected nothing less from SM stans

MHJ literally was gone from SM at the end of 2018 and joined HYBE for rebranding in 2019. She said she always wanted to create her own girl group and had a vision/ideas/plans, but they haven’t started shaping until Plus Girls Audition project, which was originally collab w Source x BigHit, but she took over completely in 2021. She started choosing songs in 2019, 3 years ago, when PGA started. She literally talked all about these several times.

I wish SM stans could move on lmfao
