have you even been to karaoke?

do you enjoy it? like it?

and if so what's your go to Karaoke song?

for me I do enjoy it even though I can't sing - my go to songs would either be Mockingbird from Eminem or Bon Jovi's Its<y Life

  • I've never been to a live karaoke event but I probably wouldn't do too well under the pressure and nervousness. I like to do karaoke when I'm by myself though.

Actually, that's not true if you would count singing a solo Christmas pop song in front of my women's choir class in 7th grade. But everyone in there knows each other well so it wasn't too bad.

I remember in 6th grade, there was this thing where someone guy's sister invented a short talent show during lunch and since she already graduated from middle school, he decided to carry the tradition. The teacher hosting it asked for people who were interested in showing their talent and I raised my hand after my friend encouraged me. I went up there, basically shaking because I was so nervous in front of all those kids and even though I didn't get bullied after elementary, they were at the age where they still were harsh. And my crush was looking me dead in the eye and I stared back in fear and I sat back down after that.

I don't like him any more for sure especially when I realized that he was just a player...changed girlfriends every week. Cute, yeah, but his personality was ugly.

  • I was thinking more private karaoke places like ones with your friends in a room type thing...like when you see idols in variety shows do it...maybe they don't have them in your city...

  • I go to a korean karaoke place in the city alone to release stress. I get shitty scores but it's fun to fuck up the korean lmao

I used to go with friends to Chinese (very similar to korean places) and we still screw up even english songs but that's the point lol

it's no fun when you have a great singer in the group it makes everybody else feel bad

Oh, interesting...though I've had small groups of friends over, I don't think I've ever actually had a karaoke. I remember trying to have one at my 2019 birthday sleepover and I had so much stuff planned but we ended up only doing "makeovers" until dinner time and then half of the attendees had to leave because they can't sleep over.

    (about 6 people came)

ahhh it's more fun when you don't have a "good" singer because the others would then get self-conscious...

    like Barbie Girl!!!

maybe you can find them in your city - they are usually run by Asians (in Australia lol)

  • Barbie Girl's a classic! I wanna sing the locomotion at a session as well since I don't much english songs at karaoke, I do some Madonna though :pepe-singing:

indeed...and can't go wrong with Kylie!!!

you need to convince your friends to go Karaoking with you my friend lol

LOL and the funny thing is, we're all in choir except for one attendee and the sister of another LMAO :cryingr:

And I've never actually heard my friends seriously sing songs other than those made for choir lol

I know the choir basics but I'm not the best and I feel like my natural vocal color holds me back a lot (I hate my voice lol)

Interesting...I don't think I'd actually go to a karaoke bar myself (or with friends). Something about singing solo in front of strangers...just...no. Even if it was just for fun and my close friends were there with me.

Sometimes I tried out for solos in choir throughout my years, just to try them, idk. I'd have to sing it in front of the whole class but I knew these people so it wasn't mortifying. But then again, I was also secretly hoping not to get the solo so there's always a sense of relief. Sometimes even a newfound disappointment that I didn't get the solo later. I usually didn't so it wasn't really a problem for me. But at least I can say I tried.

  • I'm not talking about a karaoke bar but rather something in an enclosed room like this...

(timestamped for twice at 55.58 ish)

like not in front of strangers but with one's friends...(although twice don't randomly come in lol)

  • Ohh, I see. That actually looks fun ngl but nope I haven't done it.

If I'm familiar with the crowd, I'd be more likely to do it than if I wasn't.

I actually found one nearby! It's pretty fun but it's pretty expensive to rent a private room, which makes sense. I'll have to check it out sometime but it's also probably easier, saves less time, and cheaper to host one at home if we really wanted to.

and for most places you can even check out the room or the place for free if you ask them nicely

like tell them you've never been to a Karaoke before and ask to see the room - ask them how it works etc etc

  • I've been to karoake. Got drunk and went home.
