I don't get it either. Well, part of it is that it's YG and they don't always make use of all opportunities.
I remember seeing something about the average Once and ARMY spends quite a lot more money than the average Blink, but that was probably direct merch only. BP ladies also do a lot of sponsorship and there are quite some rich Blinks who are interested in those. I'd think they would make a lot from those sponsorship deals too.

Big hit did so well despite the pandemic. They adapted very quickly. I thought it would be impressive enough if they managed to not lose revenue, but to grow?!?! That’s some next level business intuition right there.

YG was already in deficit in 2019.
They may have ok revenue, but its not enough to cover costs. In 2020 concert revenues dropped off, so even if they had more album sales than in 2019, it wasnt enough. And prices matter when it comes to album sales.
It would be intresting to look at the full income statement, but I havent found it.

It's funny how people are surprised YG is in deficit. Men... I'm surprised they are not tanking more. There were no tours and they released lots of expensive music videos and Treasure promo. BigHit sells merchandise like crazy, other labels like YG do it usually with tours.
Tours need to comeback or kpop industry will really be in trouble. More than its already is with all bully scandals.

y’all that wasn’t a bash LOL didn’t the articles say they didn’t make anything because they spent around the same amount of profit they made? If I remember correctly the articles said YG was ok with that because it garnered new fans though. It wasn’t a bash I was just saying what the articles that were posted on here said. If I’m wrong you can correct me tho

You are saying YGE spent 10mil on the show, and hence they made no profit since the The Show generated a little over 10mil.
