BigHit was able to secure YG artist and now international artist.. this is the best thing tbh, globalization and expanded beyond the kpop niche is what BigHit needs to secure itself and be a force, they need to look into a Sony deal aswell!

Which UMG artist do you want to join?

I want The Weeknd, Taylor Swift & Billie Eilish

  • For the love of god....they didnt "secure yg artists".....BIGHIT's deal was with YGX that is responsible for merch distribution, advertisements, merchandising, a makeup company, sports facilities, etc. BIGHIT has zero monopoly over yg artists.....except for maybe having them on weverse, which is not even confirmed btw.........

Yall company stans can be happy for bighit or whatnot but yall need to stop spreading misinformation.....its not a good look 🤡

  • pretty sure op meant that bighit managed to get yg artists on weverse and now umg too

  • im surprised but not surprised at the same time

No wonder a lot of analysis of bh prior to going public was betting their money on the future of BeNX. There were quite a few things in the work that we didn't know about yet but now we do.

  • This. I think it was just a statement about YG artists possibly moving to Weverse, and now UMG artists will do so, as well.

BP and Somi are signed to Interscope for Western distribution/promotion, and Interscope is owned by UMG. BH's deal with YG and this potential deal with UMG are probably related.

UMG is going to want to own a large portion of beNX or Weverse if they are going to put their bigger artists on the platfrom. BH is big, but UMG is way bigger.

BH has links to UMG through both TXT and BTS. TXT is signed under Republic Records which is owned by UMG just like Interscope. BTS are also signed under UMG Japan for their Japanese distrubution and promotions. So this deal is probably entirely separate from the YG one.
