    i have three ults

2NE1 - well, honestly it’s my history with them that really did it. they got me through some ROUGH shit that i won’t go into bc i don’t wanna trauma dump on allkpop. there will never be another group like 2NE1, i love all the members, i love all the music, i love everything they’ve done. it gets me genuinely emotional and angry to think about what they’ve been through. i will defend all of them until the day i die. their music makes me emotional to the point i can’t listen to it as much as i want to, but that’s the best part anyways. it’s the first experience all over again.

SNSD - they got me into kpop. i didn’t care about kpop before i found lion heart. i was so impressed bc it was like nothing i’d ever heard from western artists. the sound, the video, the style. it was all new. i went back and listened to every snsd title track and only disliked one (i would say which i didn’t like.. but it’s controversial). they have one of the best consistently good discographies with very little filler which is impressive with how much music they’ve put out. most of their solo stuff has been amazing too, taeyeon has one of the best solo careers out there. jessica’s solo stuff is amazing, tiffany is thriving as a pop princess. not a fan of hyoyeon’s stuff but other than that their music is just really amazing. they did so much for kpop as a genre, i mean they literally created photocards and fancams. the success of snsd is why companies kept debuting girl groups, they were seen as a failure until snsd showed people how it’s done.

twice - members. is twice’s music my favorite? no, not really. it’s the members who i fell in love with. their personalities, their performance, their chemistry and their visuals. just really amazing. i’ve been a once since the sixteen days. my journey with twice has been up and down. something i love about twice is that they have always stayed true to twice. a lot of kpop groups tried to tap into the western market and emulate the success of blackpink and bts. but twice has always been truly and honestly twice. even when they did the concept switch, the mature/sexy twice is still.. twice. there’s a few members i don’t vibe with that much but their dynamics as a group seems so authentic idk. and i’m more than a little in love with tzuyu, i won’t pretend that isn’t playing a part in my love for twice.

Wonyoung has had major brand deals (like Miu Miu). She deserves the “it girl” title imo because she’s started many trends even outside korea. She also popularized a certain makeup style and trend for visuals.

She also stands out in her group, I would say most of the NewJeans members are equal in popularity so it’s harder to place the title on a single member of NewJeans, if u look at other idols with the it girl title they often stand out in their group, even sometimes overshadowing other members (like suzy & jennie).

I would say very important. People say visuals doesn’t matter but we all find out biases attractive. Who wants to look at an ugly person all day? :teeheek:

On a more serious note though, visuals and the “x factor” are very important. Pure talent isn’t the most important thing (whether you think it should be or not is another convo). Visuals often bring a lot of attention to the group via acting and cf.

Kpop groups can be very successful without the best, most amazing talents. But they can’t be successful without visuals.

Well, it’s hard to compare idols of different generations since the standards are so different. Yoona and Suzy thrived at a time where kpop wasn’t mainstream. The only reason companies kept debuting girl groups was because of the success of Girls Generation. That’s why I voted Yoona, she got her accomplishments at a time where kpop girl groups were often flops.

You could make many of these arguments about Suzy who went on to be a successful actress too.

Jennie has more worldwide success though and is a fashion icon.

Wonyoung is definitely the fourth gen it girl and it doesn’t even come close, she’s started many tiktok trends and she popularized this “ai visual” that I see a lot of fourth gen companies trying to recreate.

Idk why Hwasa is here, she hasn’t really started any mainstream trends like the other ones. :teeheek:

Just talent in general? Hmm, ok. Lemme try not to be biased here :uh-uh-bunny: i’m a blink so ya

    1. Soyeon - I mean, obviously. She’s an amazing songwriter and one of the best female rappers in kpop of any generation. She is right up there. Dancing is great, stage presence is great. She isn’t a singer but I do actually like her singing voice too.

    2. Rosé - Imo she’s the most talented member of Blackpink. Her voice is really pretty and unique, her dancing is amazing and she has really really great stage presence. She’s the second best dancer/stage presence in Blackpink, which is saying a lot bc I think stage presence is where Blackpink really shines.

    3. Jennie - An all rounder. She isn’t as good as a rapper as Soyeon, bu she’s still really great. Great rapping, great singing and great dancing. Her stage presence can be inconsistent but in general she really shines on stage. There’s a reason locals gave her the title “eminem’s daughter” after Coachella. even tho soyeon deserves that title

    4. Yuqi - she has a dancing position, a vocal position AND a rap position so ofc she’s gonna be high. I put Jennie before her because I feel like Jennie is a much stronger rapper and I prefer her voice. Yuqi’s voice is very unique though, doesn’t sound at all like I expected.

    5. Lisa - One of the best dancers of the third gen and has AMAZING stage presence. Her rapping is sometimes cringy but I really like it and she has the “swag” to pull it off. Not a singer, but I don’t think she really needs to be.

    6. Minnie - Very unique and cool voice. I actually didn’t know she was considered the main vocalist? I thought that was just Miyeon. She has really great stage presence too.

    7. Miyeon - I do think she’s slightly weak compared to other main vocalists, but I like her voice. Very pretty too.

    8. Jisoo - A lot of people say she’s not talented but she is, it’s just that amongst all these idols I can’t justify putting her at the top. Her dancing/performance is awkward sometimes but she has a very nice voice and I loved her solo.

    9. Shuhua - I don’t dislike any of these idols but someone has to be last. I do think she’s shown improvement over the years, especially after Soojin left her dancing and stage presence got better but it’s still weaker than the other ones here. Her lack of lines kinda makes it hard for me to judge her voice.

They are all beautiful but this is my opinion (not based on KBS)

    1. Tzuyu - probably obvious based on my name and pfp but she is the most beautiful idol ever for me. She’s just stunning yet has a unique look to her. I’ve never ever seen a picture/moment where she looks anything less than gorgeous.

    2. Jisoo - miss dior. She’s so pretty and elegant.

    3. Irene - we all know SM doesn’t play around with visuals, and Irene definitely has the SM visual look. I’ve always felt she looks a lot like Taeyeon.
