Thank god Itzy was apparently removed but the fact Kep1er could be there is just... Really Mnet? And Viviz is just... Ok, I guess it makes sense because of Gfriend's ex members redemption story and all, but I don't know...
Not some people justifying that Itzy could join here because of the prior season though... Mamamoo and G-Idle situation before Queendom was NOT the same than what Itzy's situation is right now, Itzy is very big both digitals and physical wise now, they would eat up any other gg from the show by fandom power alone. They are like closer to Aespa/Twice level than to all of the other mid-tier ggs that could be on the lineup

That you don't stan, but just casually like them?
For me, even though it's pretty unlikely they would appear there, Rocket Punch.

Like others say it's not that simple, if Sticker was already dragged to hell and back, I can't imagine if the group who did it wouldn't have the singers NCT 127 have, or had weaker rappers. Sticker without good vocal output and harmonization would completely loose it's purpose

ah ok, thanks. but for ranking them being stable we need so much more things to consider.
For example loona spend 9 milion on 24 mvs and 48 songs even befor debute and also have 12 members to feed. They need so many more hits to get some profit compaired to brave girls who are well off after 3 hits because they shot mv with smartphone and only have divide between 4 members.
we should also keep in mind kpop got a lot bigger. more groups, more fans. there are many international fans wo arent that much into the scene and just like one or a few groups. while back in the days of 2nd gen most fans knows about the other groups. It was much more like we against the world, while now its everyone against each other.
So get to known by the majority is much harder today.
Yeah I'm aware of that, what I'm trying with this tierlist is see how people perceive their success just looking at the data, what they have heard, what names are more or least known, etc without taking on account the external factors of each one, it's obvious a Cube girlgroup is going to get more hype at first than a gg from a nugu company, and contexts and expectations are always different for each group. Loona is the perfect example of a mid-tier group that had ridiculous expectations and investments for them since pre-debut, would I consider them nugu or low-tier? No, but it's true that success-wise, the company f*cked the girls up with such investment and negligency. Groups coming out of big shows like Enhypen or Kep1er have advantage from the start, but for that advantage they had an investment of a whole survival show dedicated to them, so you could argue Kep1er is mid-tier but they are not that successfull compared to other groups that sell less but had far less investments.
At the end of the day, it's a case per case thing, and I would bring out context when talking about x group success or when making a comparison, but for this tierlist I'm just taking on account the cold numbers or popularity perceived by the average K-Pop fan (or people interested on these gg's numbers like me), just for fun.

Gonna be honest, Purple Kiss is a group I have heard about, but I have no idea what their numbers look like.
Only reason Chebul, Rocket Punch, and Billie are above them is because of the companies they are with. WooAh! I have been hearing a lot about lately so I threw them in there, but they could have just as easily been down there with Purple Kiss.
Purple Kiss is from RBW (Mamamoo company) so they also had some attention since te start. Their numbers are not bad at all, they sold +40k with their last mini-album which is like Lightsum territory, so yeah they do definitely have potential
-
Good tierlist, only thing I would change is that Purple Kiss is quite low.
-
Brave Girls would fit this list well but you are 1 year to late. Now it would make you look weird.^^
So its a more a list of more or less known groups that just hadnt see much success or could be more successful?
I mean Fromis was signed to hybe that alone made them known a lot. weekly have a mv with 100 mil. views. that cant all be done only by the same 10 fans. brave girls have the most paks in history. So there are various different criteria a group can do well. Just fail in one like album sales or mv views doesnt make one nugu.
In my opinion Nugus dont chart and they dont have mvs with milions of views or thousands of album sales.
Please check out this overview.
To keep it simple, it's a tierlist of groups that if we divide the K-Pop tiers on 3 (top, mid and low) they would be on the low tier success-wise overall, I'm just dividing the low tier even more, because at the end of the day groups like Lightsum or Purple Kiss are on a completely different situation than the average nugu group who is under a company that nobody knows.
The problem is : how realiable are YT views to measure the success of a group? Maybe the company spent a lot of money on them as an investment (let's say 5M views) but it didn't pay off, or how girlgroups that are kinda known on the surface that move like 5k-10k tend to not have longevity. So it's tricky, I think a girlgroup doesn't have a more or less stable situation unless one of these is accomplished:
- They sell around 20k at least
- They digitally do well
- One of the member is famous and does CF's
Even if you acomplish one of these, while I think your situation is more or less stable, I would still consider them as nugu (unless you have a hit like Rollin' or you are already selling like +50k) merely because of the oversaturation of groups on the industry.
I can't check out the tweet
-
Well, for this tierlist I wanted to include some groups that are not that nugu but not mid-tier yet, kind of in the middle.
Brave Girls is a special case so putting them here would be very weird after the massive success of Rollin'.
I even made a thread asking if Fromis_9 and Weeekly could be cosidered nugu so my standard was even higher lol
-
PinkFantasy is so nugu that they didn't even make it to the list of nugus
Tbf I forgot about BugAboo as well, so it's not personal lol
-
It’s funny to see people arguing in this thread this group or that group isn’t nugu when I’m like “I only know a few of these groups.” And some of these I just know the name but couldn’t name a single song.
There are only like 6 groups I can understand the discussion about being nugu or not, but I don't think any of these is a mid-tier gg so far being objective, good to see we agree with the upper tier nugus though
-
I think for the type of performance and music I tend to like, with some exceptions like when all of NCT performs together as an special occasion, I feel like more than 10 members is too much, and less than 5 members often come as underwhelming, so I think from 5 to 10 members is the ideal group size to me.

Who is the Icon that looks like it is SS with a Dark Background?
-
BTW NeonPunch Disbanded (also Xum).
https://kprofiles.com/neon-punch-profile/
Are Saturday, Fantics and red square still around?
Unit T was also temporary, so they are gone.
BTW you want nugu; These didn't even make your list.
Blah blah
Botopass
Chic and Idle
CraxyFavority
ect.
Yeah I realized after I made it that Neonpunch and Uni.T had disbanded already, I can't believe I forgot about BugAboo though, good catch.

Damn someone more pessimistic than me

I didn't, Great! is the album name, bboom bboom is the song.
I meant that you were talking like bboom bboom was from Rocket Punch, or at least that's how I understood it.
