That’s a dumb argument. Wanting to be a K-pop idol and to be famous is not the same as being passionate about your craft. If you go out in the streets of Asia, and ask any teen hey do you want to fly to Korea to prepare to debut as an idol, many would say yes even if they have no interest in singing, dance or making music. Taking up those skills is just a means to an end for them, the glitz, glamour and fame. Most idols belong to this category.

Those who are actually “passionate about their craft” are in the minority. And you can see it. Blackpink Lisa obviously loves to dance n perform. She was already dancing even before she became a trainee. Same for Shotaro from riize. If someday they were not allowed to dance, they would be lost and depressed n probably find a way to incorporate dance back into their lives.

Same for bts Suga with music production, Baekhyun with singing, etc. the idols who are serious about singing, fork out their own money for more vocal training just to continue to reach greater heights, to protect their voice instrument etc even after debut in the midst of busy schedules.

Newjeans members, even if you just compare them to rookies and other idols their age, are at best average in all their skills. Even newer groups like Baemon have better skills than them. Aespa, nmixx, gidle, ive are more stable in their idol skills. And not all of these people are naturally talented. Some are just better because of practice, which means that newjeans definitely do not put in as many hours even tho they have had less comebacks. As Taemin from shinee has shown, if you’re willing to work hard enough, the results r always evident.

Obviously, the newjeans girls do not practice in a way that suggests a real passion in any of the usual idol skills. And iF the leaked mhj chats are true, where she was complaining about how vain and lazy the girls are, then yeah I really don’t think they’re serious about upgrading their skills. Which is why I’ve said that even if they aren’t singing, dancing or involved in music, they can still continue with their life like be an actress, or model or continue churning out albums filled with bought easy listening n easy singing songs.

Even in their first year as rookies, they were given 4 million usd. That was 2 years ago. They probably have at least 9-20 million in the bank.

Given that they dont seem to be that passionate about their craft, so it’s not like they’re any of those people who live for music or singing because they “feel alive” while doing it because they’re so passionate.

So they might be a bit upset for a while but at the end of the day they’ll be better off than most of the people in this forum, no matter what they choose to do with themselves after that. I mean, can you imagine having that much at 18? You could just live off dividends and investments quite comfortably after that and do whatever you want.

Trying to squeeze them into some underdog story is insane. They literally took millions of dollars from hybe from the very beginning.

- Even before debut, had attention of both hybe stans and sm stans (because of min hee jin),

- have the full focus of a creative director with years of experience honing her craft with groups like snsd, shinee, fx, red velvet etc

- and connections that mhj herself said was the reason she could get an icon like tony Leung to be in their mv.

What other girl group has had the luxury of a debut where multiple mvs of the same song was released just to highlight different members?

In their first year, even after all the money she received and money earned, Ador’s profit was in negative because of how much money was poured into just this group.

Hybe has also showed receipts of how much effort was done in helping to promote them compared to their other groups.

If you want to stan an underdog so much, there are way more groups with way more talented members from small companies who didnt debut with the golden spoon that newjeans had.

Sociopaths and pedophiles can be competent at their jobs too. How does this end anything?

I'm usually a non-loyal adhd type of person who cycles through groups really fast. Have at some point been interested in almost every other popular boy group out there but Nct has held my interest for more than a year now and this shocks me. Nct is so fun and varied and talented and cute and perfect. And 127 is my personal fave out of all the units. Their personalities are so strong and distinct.

Yuta: people always thinks he's intimidating because of that fierce glare and he's a straight talker. But he always plays along with Jungwoo's antics and super affectionate with his faves. Reads a lot, have deep thoughts and naturally athletic. Can actually sing and dance well.

Johnny: the guy from Chicago who's super chill, smooth talker, witty, good at keeping a conversation going, fun-loving, creative, likes to try new things (a trait he got from his mother who has the exact same vibe as him whenever she pops up in vlogs or phone calls). He's like the fun dad of the group.

Taeyong: Fierce during performances and soft when off duty, especially in his vlives with fans. Super passionate about work, strong work ethic. Always looking for the producers to discuss things, opened his own soundcloud to upload his music which is actually really good. Initiatively asks labelmates to sing his songs. Sm is notorious for not supporting their idols' music producing interests but Taeyong just keeps pushing. His passion, drive and sense of responsibility is admirable.

Doyoung: The fastidious, responsible, clean, bunny guy with a beautiful voice. He helps out their manager a lot, likes mingling with staff and thus have the inside goss on the admin side of things regarding the group, which I personally find so funny for some reason. Members love teasing him because he reacts so funnily. His voice is so nice. When he was on masked singer as a young rookie, he impressed the judges so much and a judge said that "his voice is seasoned with something unique", and I agree.

Jaehyun: chill, unbothered king in the midst of chaos is the running joke among fans when it comes to describing his personality. He's a visual who's also a main vocalist. Usually very supportive and respectful to his hyungs until his competitive streak comes out during games. Subtly witty but his word jokes usually fly over the heads of the people he's with (denMARK, husBAND, etc if you know you know). Beautiful baritone and fun fact has the highest vocal range in the team.

Loooove the way he says lemonade here lol.

Taeil: The members adore him. He's the oldest but he never throws his weight around and I think he really lets the younger members forget that they're supposed to treat him like a hyung as typical Korean culture dictates. He's a very comfortable presence and low-key. Loves to cook. Banters with Jungwoo with silly wordplay and keeps up (Jungwoo is amazing with wordplay). And his voice is soooo good. Apparently he was accepted into a good Korean university and at the last minute, chose to risk it with Sm instead. I hope Sm promotes him more.

Jungwoo: This guy is so unique. I want a best friend like him. He's funny, sensitive, smart. I love how he doesn't make jokes by shitting on other people like how some comedians in Korean entertainment normally do. I feel like he's a person who likes to lift people up and the atmosphere is always so positive when he's around. He's not just a variety talent but when he debuted with Boss, people were going crazy over his part because his voice sounds so good. Plus, he can dance (basically all of nct can dance well lol).

Mark: he's really like a real life Peter Parker. He's this super talented, wholesome Canadian-nice boy who can actually rap. He also has this natural endearing dorkiness to him that I think makes him such a favourite with so many members in nct. Winwin and Mark are probably the two most adored members in nct. I think if you ever wanted to write a book on how to win friends and be popular, you just need to study these two. Theres just something so disarming about Mark (and Winwin for that matter). Chenle said that he wants his son to be like Mark. Kai said that he wants a younger brother like Mark. Yuta is in love with Mark. Sm's best rapper and he keeps getting better. Voted by sm peers as most hardworking.

Haechan: whippersnapper, sassy maknae who loves to troll his hyungs, especially Doyoung; but often cited by younger and newer members as a hyung who takes care of them well. When they play games, you can see how smart and sharp he is. Gift of the gab, can speak well, quick reflexes. To me, this guy just exudes cleverness. Would not want to play against him in games. Super nice vocal colour, handles the tricky vocal parts in Dream and his moves when he dances is always so fluid and sharp.

I knew staff would pick him as mafia here because he would survive so well.

If its 127, it's Simon Says.

First day preorders have been recorded as I've seen twitter accounts that basically exist to update fans of these kind of numbers for the different kpop acts out there. SM releasing a press release or the numbers as news is just them doing their job. Any company who knows how to do public relations properly would do it. 1.32million is higher than the pre-orders for many other big groups for the whole first WEEk, while nct127 shocked people by getting that number in a day.

Whether its a front-loaded number (ie number stays the same for rest of the week), only time will tell.

So whether or not the number for first day preorders has been "published" before is a moot point because the newsworthiness of this is that its a number that is usually achieved in a week by popular groups, not a mere day.

Can you be any more insecure. Like I mentioned above, its something worth celebrating because even NCTzens (those whom I know at least) are shocked at the number, a number that other popular groups usually record in a week. Plus, its a huge jump from the group's previous numbers. So just let NCTzens celebrate.

Right, I'll start accumulating my 25 posts.

And to answer the101, I really can't pick a fave sub-unit tbh. Are there guilds for them too? My fave used to be 127 because I got into them first during Kick It era. Then I fell into the WayV blackhole and Dream after NCT2020/Resonance era. My current fave members are Jungwoo, Renjun, Mark, Jaehyun, Haechan, Xiaojun, Kun though I like all of them.

Also, where can I watch the video that Jaehyun gif in your sig came from?

This guy is amazingly talented. Born to dance too. Apparently he has this genetic thing (double jointed or something?) that makes him extra flexible.

As a rookie he joined this dance show where he made a big impression on the judges. Theres a scene during this particular dance where he depicted being possessed and ngl, as a wimpy type who avoids all scary movies, I found it a little creepy because his flexibility did make him seem somewhat possessed lol.

Personality-wise, he's really interesting in that he sometimes can be somewhat savage and brutally honest yet the members love him cos he's fun and a softy inside.

His savageness and ability to sass his members seem to have mellowed somewhat tho, after being in the same group as YangYang.

He's crazy about his cats (they have 2) and even did a whole two hour relay cam on them. Also famous for looking cat-like.

Oh and his nct U collab with Taeyong is still one of my fave nct title songs. I wish they did more songs like this. In fact, I wish kpop had more songs like this.
