    :bts-v-what-ohh: :v-drink-tea:

  • yo what?? the exposure alone is huge

It's still an exposure and publicity :cursing:

    It's better than nothing :cursing:

    it's still exposure and publicity

giving this type of exposure and publicity was never a bad thing, you'll never know some people might be genuinely interest in them after seeing them perform in coachella

^^ I'll clarify just in case someone gets the wrong idea. It definitely matters in the sense that it will give them more exposure, but many K-pop fans, often aespa antis, are wishing failure on them. They want this to be a make-or-break situation when, really, it isn't.

It's a chill, fun event. If they perform great, great. If they give a mediocre performance, it won't be the end of their push for global success if that's what they're aiming for.

The realistic scenario, as I've said previously, is that they'll gain some exposure from this. There's no way they can lose. I think their music itself is what matters most when it comes to earning western appeal. Whatever song they plan to debut at Coachella, I look forward to it a lot! I think that's ultimately what matters more than how the performance itself will be.

Some people want to downplay their Coachella spot, but really, they had to be popular globally to some extent to get there. Yes, some American acts are rather nugu, but when it comes to the international acts, they often have to have a decent following to be there.

  • can we just be happy for aespa please? like yes let's get high and party :pepe-hips: (not me through because im still a minor, the only high im getting is sugar high i promise :pepelove1:)

    OP
  • also if they gained a larger virtual audience that would also help aespa seeing as how they're already doing pretty well in the west (or at least that's what everyone on akp's saying)

  • i think the problem is that people are trying too much to push this black/white situation

in the sense it can only be a situation extreme

they can't even imagine that even if aespa doesn't live up to the expectations they have for them, at the end it'll still give them exposure to some people who might like it, MY will be more engage with Aespa after getting a new songs etc.....

and yeah to be honest people trying to downplay their coachella spot are going a little too far in my opinion, i literally saw dozen and more tweet slut shaming aespa for their spot

and the way people are questionning aespa spot when overall aespa is more successfull than most of the other local artist performing

  • Yup - people are acting like this performance will make or break them - like what? It's COACHELLA. As an Asian american, I'm personally just happy to see more and more acceptance for Asian acts. They'll be FINE.

  • Absolutely agree. I touched on this a bit in a previous response thread:

I think the realistic result wouldn't be either extreme situation, and that's a great thing because all they can do is gain from this. There's nothing to lose; a bit of ridicule from overly judgmental K-pop fans won't take anything away from them. They don't have to go into this thinking it's make-or-break. I hope the members aren't putting that pressure on themselves.

The Coachella audience itself is rather carefree and easygoing, which is very much the essence of the festival. They're there to have a good time and vibe with different genres of music, so there shouldn't be any concern of whether or not aespa will fit in. They will, and it will be fun for everyone who's there.

I think there's too much unnecessary negativity and concern surrounding this. That's expected and still understandable, but I figured I'd give my take on it.

And Companies follow the money that kpop stans are willing to pay, so it may seem that the company is in the same boat, when in fact, they are not.
