So many great albums came out this year ("this year" meaning November 2021 - today) and imo every single solo artist from SM delivered high quality material so far. Many SOTY and B-Sides of The Year material are coming from them.
Starting with Onew.
His album is a treasure! From DICE to In The Whale! No skip material (and a big YES to Bass in this album. I'm weak for this!). I recommend this album to everyone! (Yeowoobi! )
Also, I'll never get over the fact that Cha Cha Malone produced a song for this album! Love it!
Then Taeyeon.
The amount of praise she received for her album has a reason. It's really that amazing! She deserves the praise and even more!
I can always expect the best from their albums and they don't get tired of releasing top quality albums.
Suho is always so pleasing to listen to! Once again, he got me with his new album. (and yes, Hurdle SOTY).
Released last year, Peaches leaned to a kinda experimental route (imo) and that was one of the keypoints that made this album so interesting to listen to. I truly enjoy this album.
Since SM has plenty of projects, I'm gonna end this part of the topic talking about Changmin and Devil.
I think people don't give enough attention to TVXQ's solo work. This album is INCREDIBLE! I mean, give it a listen!
Devil is Title of The Year imo, just saying. The song is really powerful! OMG!
Aside from the quality of their music, the MVs are for their solo acts are STUNNING! Colors, quality, storylines, photography, everything. Pure quality.
The experience of watching MVs is really joyful and aesthetically pleasing when it comes to their solo acts.
SM used to have the "box MVs" stereotype (that was actually true imo lol), but it's been some years since they've changed that and they're getting better and better with their MVs, especially for their solo artists.
Even when the MVs have no certain storyline, the backgrounds, photography and overall aesthetics do their job.
Special mention to one of the most beautiful MVs SM has ever produced, not released this year but I'm mentioning anyway (it's currently age restricted), Yunho's Thank U:
I hope SM will either keep with this amount of attention to their solo acts or get even better, 'cause I'm enjoying a lot all of this!
Their talents are screaming in their solo work!
