It's interesting, though not surprising, that (aside from BTS, who simply sells well most places), the top acts all have dedicated Japanese albums/songs, and don't just copy/paste their Korean songs into Japanese. That always drove me bonkers when companies started looking at Japan as a place to print money, they just awkwardly translated their songs into a subpar Japanese/English version.

It's not always a simple risk free thing tho. Several groups have released a a few Japan singles and albums to mixed to low success such as AOA, Apink, Gfriend, Dreamcatcher and Red Velvet.
I think most companies usually respond to demand and for the most part many gg's will only experience failure if they release more original music in Japan right now.
Good japanese songs dont just grow on trees? Who would have thought about that?

Right, but the options aren't just "release translated versions of popular* Korean songs" or "release original Japanese songs and fail."
*And a huge asterisk on that because all the groups you've mentioned have variable Korean success as it is.
Companies should consider if entering the Japanese market is even the right move for a particular group, and if yes, to be realistic about what their niche is going to be. There are many groups that aren't on this "literally the most successful of all time" list that have found more success in Japan than they ever did in Korea, such as DGNA, by targeting their music very specifically to Japan. A tiny slice of a huge pie can balance out in the end.
