    I doubt its sincere but honestly Henry Lau is probably not good as an ambassador. Call me racist but if kids and such need a person talking to them about things they might need to change they'd probably respond better to a korean idol, because fundamentally they had also a childhood in korea and probably would know more about violence among youths in korea.


    If I were to select an ambassador to this kind of stuff, I would choose a relatively popular idol that has had their childhood in Korea, and has a clean criminal and drug history. In that way they have a relatable role model that would have knowledge of what they are promoting.

    Yes im well aware about how it works normally with celebrities and ccp, and i can understand them as well if they are living in china or have family there, not much choice then.

    Idk about Yifei but Yiren was literally the only (or one of the very few) who reposted it from the Chinese idols, so could very well hold those views. Maybe for her, the validity of those claims is the same as the Russian "Ukrainian bioweapons" talks are to the Westerners. This is also partially related to the bubbles I was talking about

    There won't be any in-depth discussions (probably a few meetings where Henry will give a talk) and on the surface level a lot of the themes which lead to bullying are similar from country to country (income disparity, different looks, etc.), so I don't think a Korean idol would necessarily be better than Henry. Moreover, the post says that Henry has been active in child-oriented charities and non-profit organizations which means that he is used to working with children, so I can easily see why he would be considered more qualified than your average idol.

    when I say international consensus its usually who has more allies on one side of the issue or the other I define international consensus as which opinion is more popular among all sovereign states, not that it *is* popular.


    for Yiren, there was even debate as to whether Yiren was in control of her Weibo as well and if she had been looking forward to a career in china, she would have had to support the CCP regardless or risk being directly sanctioned by the chinese gov't. Plus, Yuehua entertainment is under chinese ownership so even if the CCP couldn't affect Yiren personally, Yuehua after their tax investigation was skittish about yet another sanction or investigation by the CCP.


    There are plenty of details and perspectives but please note that there are plenty of "bubbles" as you talk about but some may be simultaneously true, false, or only partly true.

    As a Korean myself i agree and I have plenty of idols to list try any of the members of ateez, try SHINee and also they could try BTS all three groups Would be excellent role models.
