why are bts members participating in kdrama/webtoon osts?

releasing OST is the basics for vocal line members in kpop groups that want to develop a solo career.

I also don't understand why you are using Spotify streams to determine how well an OST does. Some of the most successful OSTs don't have up to 100M streams

I can definitely see Jungkook as an actor! Honestly many of them are talented in this sphere.

i don't think it has a big reach internationally but in korea, it does have a very big reach since a lot of osts are ballads and korea loves ballads, also bts members have a lot of solo potential and have amazing voices

K drama productions make offers to the artists, its not the other way around as far as i know.

BTS are very popular, it makes sense for production companies to want BTS members to sing their ost and the members also excel in the singing department.

Look at Paul Kim, his OST songs are always charting haha.

paticipating in osts is actualy what vocal line members usually do in kpop, if anything it is weird that it took them this long to start doing it.

I think it's a great outlet from them to explore, I'm not sure if there's a bigger reason behind it but the demand for them must be crazy, so why not take it. It gives them more room to showcase their own vocal colours and experiment with different styles and sounds.

Tae ost doing great despite released on late 2021, Jungkook ost seems to catch up in greater pace. now Jimin ost will be released, I am 100% sure Jimin ost will do very well in streams, maybe better than Tae's and JK's

why BTS (esp vocal line) only got OST for solo release? Idk.. I just hope their next release is not ost anymore,

its unlikely for BTS to have a proper solo like other artist, like having a physical album, promote etc
so I only hope they(vocal line) can publish their own mixtape, because each one of them have a very diff musical color and so unique, just look at their self written and produced song that they released on soundcloud, all of them are great and very different.

V and Jin's first OST was for Hwarang which even got nominated in melon (2016)

V's second ost was for itaewon class in 2020

V's third ost was in 2021. Jin's second ost was in 2021

So since the 3rd year after their debut, 2/4 VL were alr doing osts for korean dramas.

JK did ost in 2022, Jimin is gg to do one in 2022

i dont think there is any conspiracy theory behind doing osts, its just demand and value and the availability of the artists

yep it is a bit of a standard

for example, Kyuhyun (super junior's main vocalist) has a total of 19 osts under his belt, 9 of which were released before he even made his solo debut.

One of the reasons Taeyeon's brand name outlasted her own group and many of her peers' is the fact she built a name for herself through osts, she actually had a hit ost within 1 year of debut. there are several idols that had hits or pseudo hit osts over the years.
