I can say this because I love both groups. I think both groups contribute so much to K-pop. Anyone who knows me would know that, so don't interpret this as a setup or anything like that.
Stylistically and conceptually, STAYC and Red Velvet share a lot of similarities:
- Both are known for vocals and music more than dance
- Both are praised for excellent B-sides. There's a lot of discussion about how their B-sides should have been title tracks.
- Both embrace the R&B sound and incorporate it well into their music
- Both remind people of the "good old days" of K-pop while also embracing modernity
