Why Mnet survival never create permanent group ?

  • It's so weird '-'

Mnet is well know for their survival show , and after the success of Produce series i don't understand why they never hold audition for independant trainee with no agencies to make a survival show to create a permanent group, especially after seeing how IOI, Wanna One and Izone were.

+ it wouldn't even be a problem to find a company to manage them forever considering that they have tons of Music label as subsidiaries like Amoeba culture, Wake one, swing entertaineemnt

if they would do this, they could be able to create one of the biggest group in kpop

considering that International fans love Mnet survival show

and Mnet survival show also get tons of hype in Korea

this group would be able to have good digital and strong physicals

  • They did with Boys 24 (In2it), Idol School (Fromis_9), and To Be World Klass (TO1). Also I-Land (Enhypen ) tho it’s understandable if they don’t count since they’re not totally by Mnet

Tho it would be nicer if they show formats were similar to the Produce/Planet series

Tho Boys Planet is apparently gonna be a permanent lineup since it’s all individual trainees this time

yeah but they never promote any of these survival show like they promote their GP999 or Produce series

that's why they all flopped compare to produce

  • I'm not sure but if it comes to mnet, I find the temporary groups better than the permanent ones (enhypen are an exception cause half of the trainees were under bighit before and others were casted by bang pd and trained for some time before appearing on the show). Maybe it's easier to find trainees who are ready to debut who are already under a company and training them costs money and time (which is a risk for trainees who aren't under any company)

  • you are right they've should do it

just be smart about it, the main problem is that with very successful show people expect it to be back in schedule in each year...

so maybe MNet should just be creative and create another survival show but with half number of contestants

they have Girls Planet/Boys Planet for now with 99 trainees, but they could start another one let's name it New Show to make it easier, and have there 50, max 60 trainees. Hit different concept of the show, maybe something like Camp? before corona hit hard there was a rumor that Tencent had plans to do next Produce Camp in Singapore. But in a way of Chinese trainees boarding a plane and flyin there, to have this kind of foreign trip + show experience.

Maybe they could reverse situation which JYP did with NiziU, just take 30 boys or girls to Japan, then add 20 locals to it, and there you go.

then in schedule it will be year by year, with something like this contract could be at least 5 year long or even written for 7 years with clause that in 6th and 7th year group will just release one album in each of those years.

  • They did it several times actually (ex: Boys24, To be World Klass) but those shows just dont get the same success usually and the resulting groups are not really popular.

  • They did and people have already named the examples.

For it to work, they'd need independent trainees not attached to a company basically, so they can solo manage them. Or if they were under a company, they'd need to not have planned to debut them in a group etc.

  • hype?

Mnet like most companies motives are profit and thus temporary 2-3yr groups can make a quick buck gain the popularity of the nation and rinse and repeat...

to date has any one of their temporary groups flopped? not to my knowledge...(I could be wrong)
