When Red Velvet released Really Bad Boy or Zimzalabim, people said they flopped compared to Pyscho or Red Flavor because they sounded too experimental. But with Aespa/NCT, their “normal songs” like Aespa’s Forever or Nct’s Touch are the ones that don’t do well compared to “weirder” songs like Next Level/Savage or Kick it. Even recently, people said Sticker is the worst NCT song, yet it charted way better than Favorite, which is more digestible. Korea aside, even internationally on Spotify, Red Velvet’s experimental songs also don’t get as many streams as their more normal songs. All groups are from SM, why don’t Red Velvet’s experimental songs get the love they deserve?
